Cigar Leaf Based Blends... C&D Billy Budd vs HU Nyala

Please share your thoughts on the Nyala when you have tried it. I shall put GLP Key Largo on my list of must try blends. With customs and fees tobacco from the states is to expensive to buy in volume or for regular use. But i sometimes splurge and buy a single tin of a few must try blends in...

Cigar Leaf Based Blends... C&D Billy Budd vs HU Nyala

You are right I am a bit unfair, and I to have enjoyed some non-Cuban cigars. Its just that imho Cuban cigars often have a rounded, smooth, earthy flavor to them that I have not found in any non Cuban cigars. And i found those same earthy notes in C&D Billy Budd but not in the C&D Bow Legged Bear.

Cigar Leaf Based Blends... C&D Billy Budd vs HU Nyala

I absolutely love C&D Billy Budd with it´s rich, bold, stinky in your face taste and room note. Great strong natural tobacco flavors and lots of them. I would say that the cigar leaf has a Cuban note to them being earthy and well rounded, none of that sharp burnt paper note often found in...

    How Do You Cut Yours?

Hardly smoke cigars anymore but back when I smoked them daily I used a cigar scissor that had three bent blades so the cigar got cut from all directions at once with equal pressure. On the go I would use a double sided guillotin. Oh and if it was a Cuban from the bad years giving me draft...

I Decided to Try Maltese Falcon...

Maltese Falcon is a great blend and the mystery spice adds some depth to it. But to me it is a bit too smooth and mellow. It lacks a bit of "umph" to be a top ten in my book.

    Pocket Pipes

I mostly smoke on the go, so being abel to fit in a pocket is almost a must for my pipes. My favourite bar none is my Peterson System Standard 317. Very practical fits in most pockets and you don't have to worry about bending and damaging the mortise or tenon with an army mount that you also...

Give Me the Pros and Cons of Softy Bits

I clench all the time when smoking and softie bits helps me have a firm grip on my pipes so I don't drop them, and protects the stems from ugly clenching marks. I remove softie bit and clean stem + disinfect bit after every use. I'm working on improving my clenching technic so one day I won't...

    Beggin Strips For Men

For me the problem with evangelical veganism (apart from being politics which can be very devisive and does not belong here) is that equating and comparing the value and sanctity of animal life to that of human life is not raising the value of animal life it is devaluing human life. Which is...

My New Peterson Irish Harp 999

Congratulations! That is a nice looking pipe! I like the details on the silverband. I myself have a 999 on its way in the mail, of the more basic Aran line.

ATTENTION ALL MALES.....I am in Need of Advice

Some god advice to be found above and as others have said it's your decision and yours alone. The most important thing is that you are comfortable with your decision whichever it will be. Personally I would not do it, you never know how your life will be in 10, 20 or even 30 years. Unforseen...

    Unreasonable Cuteness

Here is a picture of the moose when it returned to lick the neighbours car. Saw it several times during a two week period. Not the largest moose but it felt plenty big enough up close.

    Unreasonable Cuteness

Last winter I had a plumber out to fix a broken water heater and a couple of stuck valves in the cabin, when he was done and tried to leave a moose was licking road salt from the rear wheel arches of his work-van. He tried hollering and waiving his arms but the moose could not be bothered at...

Hello from the Heart of Dixie!

Welcome from Sweden! Glad you decided to join in! I've personally been serious about pipe smoking for about a year now and I am currently stumbling through as many different blends I can get my hands on trying to find what tickles my fancy. The internet sure is a great thing for availability.
