Any Recommendations for a Struggling Ciggy Smoker?

Never a cig smoker, but Swedish Snus is my nicotine fulfillment now...after decades of American snuff & chew...Much cleaner, no spit, and dare I say healthier...? Lyft, and others with NO tobacco as well (just nicotine pouches). Pipes for flavors now here. Good luck! Preserve...?

Live Long and Prosper, And Here's Why

Not sure where I first heard this, but excellent advice: ” The windshield is much bigger than the rear view mirror for a reason...What is in front of you is much more important than what is behind you - but you still need to look back occasionally...” We never actually “figure it out” by the way...

    I Miss A Haircut

I’m happily a 2x per week home clipper self cut guy. Good ‘ole Oster Model 10, with a 0A blade (1.2 mm). 3 minutes, tops. Easy-Peasy to do and live with. It takes longer to shave! 16 years now...

    Tobacco Log Book

Very good - ya got me on that one! I guess I’ll slightly clarify: Although I have a ”routine” for washing my truck, and a “routine” for changing the oil in said truck, I don’ t “habitually” wash my truck or habitually change my oil! Similar is not same... I do, however, “habitually” (and more...

    Tobacco Log Book

Fair and great question! For me: I only smoke a bowl a day. That is a long time between my current 30 pipes, and about 35 open blends. I have favorites that get more play time, and some that languish. I need some way to remind myself “dry this one out more”, or “this tastes better in a cob”...

New Recruit, And How To Start Them Out.

I’ve had a number of folks ask about pipe smoking, what & where to buy, etc. My personal rule is to never “start them” with a gifted pipe or tobacco. Gotta have skin in the game...Once they commit and buy their own starter set (whatever price point that may entail), I will THEN start giving or...

    Tobacco Log Book

I keep more of a “diary” than a log. Use a simple 3x5 bound journal or a “Field Notes” book. Now, keep in mind, I only smoke 1, at most 2 bowls a day. My simple notes: Date Pipe smoked Tobacco smoked Location and time of day smoked 1-5 rating “right now” (5=highest) Couple sentences to myself...

    Pipe Tube.

As a counter - those YouTube pieces are mostly not for regular pipe smokers. We figured it out...and never go back to “watch” how someone else goes about the dance of pipe smoking. But then we DO come here to also ask questions, provide opinions, offer advice, etc.? A newbie would find a...

    “Perfect” Tobacco and Drink Pairings?

English blends & Scotch as others have mentioned... ...and as I posted somewhere else here, Tashkent & a nice fresh ice-laden Gin & Tonic in hot weather! Sublime...

What Are You Cooking? - August 2020

Summer meal here tonight! Swordfish steaks, with olive oil, lemon & garlic. Rice with butter (and a pour of the above oil, lemon, garlic) Heirloom tomatoes & cucumber salad in olive oil, red wine vinegar, and a dash of Italian seasoning... Paired with a Bitburger Pils! Just awesome, and only...

Made A Big Mistake: Smoked A Cigar

Good thread! I like cigars! I like pipes! For ME, I find I enjoy cigars more in warmer weather, and in more social environments (BBQ, tailgate, golf course, hanging with others, etc.). I prefer my pipes in solitude, year ‘round, inside or outside. Something about the “process” or...

I'm Getting Close To Breaking Down

Get what floats your boat! In the long run, I’ve reverted to only a Zippo pipe lighter, and/or a Bic. Much depends on where (physically) you like to smoke, and maybe even how often. my Zippo, used only once a day, will last 30 days on a fill. Great inside or out. Will grant the very personal...

    Tobacco Drying Bowl

Sadly, I use an extra, leftover stainless steel dog food bowl For drying a fresh tin...? Does work well I must say! My basement is 62 degrees F, and 50% humidity year round. Good storage and drying conditions tho!

    What’s Your Favorite Style?

Outlier here, apparently... Most smoked for me are cubanito, or cigarillo sized. 15-30 minutes. Really good, or have time? Smoke another... Love the size, packaging, and convenience. Never feel like I ”waste one”. Next up is corona, then robusto, then toro. Never more than 6x50 is my...

    Seasonal Blends

I generally don’t eliminate blends based on season, but I find I do GRAVITATE towards blends based on the season (weather). I smoke around the flavor wheel, but tend toward a few more aro and VAPer bowls in summer, and English/Lat blends in winter. All said, nothing is ever “off the table”...?

Got Me A New-sed Pipe Rack

OP’s pic looks like a test tube rack, and that was the term I used to search the web. I’ve tried them...but returned them. A bit fiddly to me, but a great option if you have the right pipe collection.
