Howya Anyone in Western or Northwestern Connecticut?

Ah yes, the pipe smoking rabbit! Great stuff, and hence my choice for profile pic. Truth be told, this version is from the Mad River Canoe Company. Even they have a great write up about it, even mentioning the pipe. https://www.madrivercanoe.com/us/who-we-are/legend-bunny Not driving to...

    Zippo Lighter or Butane Lighter

Zippo almost exclusively. EXCEPT in the car/truck, then Bic (for safety reason...). Ever drop a Zippo while in use in your car/truck? NOT fun...?

How Long Have You Been Smoking A Pipe ?

First pipe 26+ years ago. Alternated with cigars as time and young family permitted. Last 10 years, mostly pipe, and occasional cigar still. Prefer my pipes mostly these days, but still only a once a day smoker...with a 50 blend cellar! Only 5 are pounds deep tho...?

Peterson’s Explains The Black Bowl Coating!

I have a few Petes, and every new one has had the black liner crap removed before the first smoke. I want briar to break in, and season, not “craptastic” black coating... Thereafter - I love my Petes.

    Pocket Knives

Case fan here as well... Peanuts, and a Texas Toothpick shown... Peanuts (closed of course, and the left end in this picture) make a nice field expedient tamper too... The toothpick just looks and feels so awesome and “fancy”!

    Thank You For Your Service

Interesting statistic: 7% of all living Americans are Vets. ...only 7%... Happy Veterans Day!

    Decorating For Christmas ?

BUT... This has always been one of my hangover cures... Steely Dan playing, and taking down Christmas stuff... The tradition does, and will, continue...for me! (religious calendars and our commercial calendar don’t always meet nicely in the second millennia...)

    Dr Grabow Question

I have a +/- 5 year old smooth Omega. I actually sanded down the lacquer, then stained with Fiebings leather dye (black) for a few coats. Light coat of mineral oil after, and then every so often. Great smoker for me - my “car pipe”...

Zippo Double Torch Insert. Yea or Nay?

Use the Zippo as a Zippo. Find a good torch lighter if you prefer. A Zippo does not make a good torch lighter, and a torch lighter does not make a good Zippo. I have tried. Not worth the trouble...but have fun with the journey! ...My $0.02

    That Sublime Smoke

Strange enough, I had one of those this evening, and NOT at all expected, based on the following: MM Marcus cob Carter Hall Bic, roofing nail... Evan Williams, neat, in a copper mug... Outside patio, no wind, 50 degree New England fall evening. All of which is really just “plain vanilla” - low...

    Home Haircut

Always kept mine very short. At 40 ( a while ago!) stopped fighting the “Friar Tuck” problem, and just buzzed it all short. Currently, twice a week buzz with an Oster Model 10, with a 0A attachment at home. Easy Peasy... VERY convenient and simple. No motorcycle ”helmet hair”, no “hat...

Vanilla Flake VS Vanilla Cream Flake

Now that’s real info. Mine was (is) purely anecdotal... so...same, but different!?

    Pipe Cleaners

Use ‘em. But not obsessively... DON‘T reuse them! To me, its like recycling toilet paper, or saving and re-smoking your dottle ...?. Just don’t, please, for your health and all... $2.00/100! $0.02 each? C’mon guys (& gals)...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2020?***

Almost 2400 posts into October on this thread, and feel this post is a waste of my one finger pecking on my iPad...because, who really cares? (other than me)... BUT... a strange, pedestrian combo tonight just turned into magic. A Falcon with Genoa bowl, no dry ring, with Epiphany, on my patio...

Vanilla Flake VS Vanilla Cream Flake

In my opinion, it’s the same tobacco (have and enjoy both). One is left in flake form, the other is a rubbed out version of the same flake... I can see the “un rubbed” strands left in the loose cut. BUT...what do I know...? YMMV as they say (write)...
