Stocking Up On Favorite Scotch & Irish Whiskey?

Ran across a good find in a Bourbon recently for a song. Beam Distiller's Cut 'Limited Release'. This one is actually very nice and at 100 proof, holds up nicely to an ice cube or two. This limited edition offering was personally selected by Fred Noe, master Distiller. A real keeper.

    H & H White Knight

Back to the White Knight. Just a a few weeks breathing after first opening the tin has made quite the difference in this blend. Does fine now with no further need to dry. Perfect right out of the tin, packs & lights easily and needs few re-lights unless you're a real talker! The latakia is...

    Sarasota Pipe Meet

So, Is anyone truly up for a get-together someplace that's good for most to meet? If we can determine how many we have and where everyone ives, we can move forward to set a date and find a place. Let's start with who's up for this and best days. For me, anytime Saturdays or Sunday...

    Talk About Scottish Blends 2/19/2020

So what elements make up a Scottish pipe blend? I lean towards the notion that there is usually a bit of unsweetened Black Cavendish and a reserved amount of condiment leaves with the bulk being fine, mellow Virginias. Seems that a Scottish blend is quite like a good dark porter - low in ABU...

    Zippo

I've read this a number of times, but wonder... Do the pipe lighter zips gone the bowl a 'fuel' off-taste, or is that primarily a cigar thing?

    Glass Top Cuban Cigar Boxes

This is pretty much old news, but there apparently are a few enthusiasts out there that are in the dark about this dead giveaway. HSA has never released authentic Cuban cigars packed in any type of glass top box. I have a friend who annually goes on vacation to Cabo in Mexico and...

    Tastes Like Ash

Another thing that will lead even a great tobacco to taste ash-like is if it is smoldering and not hot enough to very lightly combust the tobacco. I don't mean a roaring hot coal, but just enough to keep the weed going. Need to have a decent amount of smoke going to get a decent taste. Again...

    Tastes Like Ash

This... Yes, very soon someone will come and say aromatics are terrible and you should smoke English blends to save yourself from tongue bite and disappointment. What-e-ver. rotfrotfrotf

    EMBOSSED Meerschaum Pipes

yep - take a look at Meerschaum Market and you will see several that say "Embossed". I know little about Meers and am looking into them, but want to be educated before jumping in. I was suspicious of the price of such high level of detail for so low of a cost. Most say carved, some say...

    H & H White Knight

Update -- bowl two of White Knight. A bit of drying was just the ticket - packed and smoked flawlessly. Only needed to put flame to tobacco twice - the toast and then a single light needed for the entire bowl. I am really liking this blend quite a bit. Easy to keep lit with just a light...

Found a Good Pipe Pouch for a Great Price...

I took all this warpaint stuff out and tossed it on her dresser. Filled with pipe goods now! Funny thing, I do have a bit of an urge to pluck my beard since getting this pouch!

    EMBOSSED Meerschaum Pipes

Is it correct assume that Embossed Meers are pressed rather than carved from a solid block? Second - are all Meer pipes that say hand carved actually carved from a solid block and not from pressed material?
