***What Are You Smoking, January 2021?***

Sitting here on the lanai in gym shorts and t-shirt enjoying a blend of Cringle Flake and Cuban cigar paired with Oatmeal Stout. Quite tasty!puffy

    Using Cigars As Pipe Tobacco

The suggestion here to try adding a bit of cut cigar tobacco to nice Virginia worked well. I found a damaged CC PLPC, vintage 2013 and trimmed out a few coins. Added 50/50 to Cringle Flake and relaxed with a nice dark stout. As described here, the smoke added body, strength and a creamy...

What are You Drinking? (January 2021)

Stockyard Oatmeal Stout - from Trader Joes. Amazingly good stout ale. Right up there with Samuel Smith! Pairs well with most pipe tobaccos.

    Using Cigars As Pipe Tobacco

Has anyone tried cutting/chopping cigars to smoke in a pipe? I have an extensive cigar collection and got a wild idea to try cutting a bowl size piece from a Churchill and maybe add a bit of stoved Virginia and latakia to see what's what. My preference is for full bodied cigars, like LFD...

    Herb / Weed Grinders

So I've seen that many here agree that these things have value in breaking down flakes & plugs. Have a couple of questions... What is the recommended size? I see then on the Bay from 1" to 2.5". Is this a case where bigger is better? Do you find that it goes too far in grinding the tobacco...

Thoughts On A Tobacco / Herb Grinder

Embers - you should try Glucosamine with Chondroitin. Worked 95% for my broken thumb arthritis. No need for reparative surgery! A $5.00 container saved me about $10m in costs!

Seattle Pipe Club Plum Pudding SR: Bland?

I agree with the OP in that Plum Pudding is none too interesting. I have some with 5+ years aging and it is quite mild and tends to burn hot. There are other similar blends out there that are a bit more enjoyable.

    Mixing Tobaccos

I have found that adding stoved Virginia and black unflavored Cavendish gives a slight, nice bit of sweetness and smooths out an otherwise slightly rough blend quite a bit. Also helps with the burn as well. A bit of latakia added to pedestrian blends introduces an element of savory, smoky...

The Most Popular Pipe Tobacco.... 50 Years Ago.

My dad was a SWR and Half & Half guy. Worked at Nasa - everybody smoked at their desks back then.

    Seasonal Reserve. Gawith Hoggarth

    Smoking a Pipe at 36

Yeah, in my 30's & 40's I used to care a little about what others thought. Good thing about being a boomer is that I really don't give a flip what they think. If somebody is stupid enough to be verbal about it, I have to open a can of whoopass on 'em!

    Syrian Latakia

So, why has no-one listed 'Syrian Seed' Latakia on the Tobacco ingredients? Seems like it would certainly garner a lot of interest. I would jump in, just out of curiosity. Maybe Russ might consider this, as he is one of the blenders that definitely thinks outside the conventional box! Also, I...

    Syrian Latakia

I understand that this variety of Latakia is all but extinct, but I don't get as to why that is. Other than the destruction in that region, why is that strain of Latakia not planted and cultivated in other areas. In the cigar world, it is common, for example, to take Cuban seed and plant in...

This Time Of Year Kinda Sucks

Stay away from the internet and miss out on all those great pipe tin deals? Surely you gest, sir! How could any sane person miss such an opportunity? Not to mention having the chance to bitch about having too many deals going at once! It's enough to make one shake their head in disgust! ;)

This Time Of Year Kinda Sucks

Man, this is a tough crowd here today! Panties in a wad precludes a good sense of humor? If prices here were as objectionable as in other locals, tobacco sales here would evaporate. We are fortunate that we don't have to deal with that - yet. rotfrotfrotf
