    Sutliff Berkshire (Private Stock)

Anybody remember Sutliff Berkshire pipe tobacco? It was one of my favorite lighter English blends. Why did Sutliff discontinue production of this one? It was certainly one of their better offerings at the time.

USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Shipping Costs

This note is to inform / educate many here that believe shipping to the 49th and 50th states is higher in cost than the lower 48. That thinking is not correct - it's the same flat rate to all states, Hawaii and Alaska included. This is, if the shipper uses USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes or...

    Cheap Buffer

Pulled the trigger as well. I have a bunch of oxidized stems to work on, so this will be put to good use! Thanks for the heads up! RR

SPC Mississippi River vs Plum Pudding

Interesting results... To my palate, Mississippi River is a bit smoother and has a bit more sweetness than PP. I enjoy both, but prefer MR. On a side note, my palate is not overly well developed, as I find the two to be different, but not overly so. Both fine smokes.

    Lat Bombs & Mountain Camp

Well hot-darn! I've tried some of these and find them to be wonderfully 'Lat Rich'. I done good there, son!

    Lat Bombs & Mountain Camp

I just bought a goodly amount of this blend, which I have not sampled before and have read it is a 'Lat Bomb'. Now, I do like a good stout English or Oriental with a decent amount of that smokey weed. So, what are some of the truly strong classic Lat Bombs and is Mountain Camp among that...

Cigar Lounges Flourish; Pipe Shops Disappear

I have two or three favorite cigar shops that I frequently visit. One in particular is Friday Church for a group of friends. We bring in our own various bourbons and share with whomever likes to imbibe. If I could find a pipe establishment, such as Edwards, in the Tampa area, I'd gladly...

    Newbie in Orlando!

Welcome from the Suncoast - Sarasota area here. Lived in Orlando for quite a while. Welcome. If the Floridians get together for pipes or cigars, give a shout! RR

    Done with Aromatics…?

Well, this may explain why aromatics are much more likely to result in tongue bite... First, some people are simply much more sensitive to the additives, chemistry in aromatics. It's a chemistry thing - not much you can do about that. I've been enjoying pipes for quite a while and simply...

How To Date Newer Esoterica Tins?

I've read all of the older (through 2018) info on dating Esoterica and Germain tins and that made sense. Now, with the later, newer tins that have four numbers before the letter, how does that calculate? ex. Dorchester tin with code 1359H042. Before, with three numbers before the letter, the 1...

    Peterson Stem Oxidation Removal?

I was revisiting my pipe collection and noted that all of the older Petes have a good bit of stem oxidation. These pipes are not the ons in my regular rotation, so they are oggled over only a few times each year. How should I proceed to remove the oxidation and return the stems to their...

    Condor Pipes

Condor Pipes - Can anyone tell me about these pipes. I cannot find much in an online search other than a Facebook page. They look nice. Any sites where you can see their offerings and see prices? RR

    Drucquer Sale?

Did SP have their usual sale on Drucquer tins this time of year? Been looking forward to stocking up. Hope I did not miss it - if there was a sale. puffy

Need Advice On Old Tin Seal

Need some sage advice here... I dug out from the cellar some tins to make available for sale and I'm wondering about one 2012 tin of Penzance. The tin is intact, in great shape, appears to be well sealed. But...upon light shaking the tin, I can hear the tobacco rustle around, like a current...

    Smoothest GLP

IMHO, I look at a pipe tobacco and a nice cigar as having no back of the throat irritation or rough edges. I'd put smoothness right up there with taste and flavor. My preference is for full bodied maduro cigars and stout pipe tobaccos. That said, a strong tobacco can also be smooth and...

Haddos is nice, but you had my undivided attention at '20 year old' ! Well done.

    Smoothest GLP

I have a real fondness for GL Pease, Rattrays and Drucquer Lat blends and Orientals. Question is which are known to be the smoothest?
