That's the sad life of system developers. 99% of people will complain about things that don't work, and less than 1% will acknowledge the stuff that does. You have to take solace in the huge number of people who have joined up and stick around. You gotta be doing something right. Simon

Volume Comparisons of Tobacco to Objects?

I've got a couple of round 50g tins right here. I held one up to a CD, and it is about 1/2 inch smaller in diameter. It's about an inch deep. The tobacco in each of these was ribbon cut and packed pretty tight. I just moved the tobacco to jars yesterday, and it "fluffed up" quite a bit. Flake...

What tobacco would you like to try that you have not got right now?

Solani X Sweet Mystery. My tobacconist has it, but I'm currently overstocked on open tobacco varieties, considering the rate at which I smoke. I'll chime in on the Mac Baren 7 Seas, as well. Probably the Gold, from what I've read. Simon

Not to mention that there seems to be two separate private messaging systems, one for the main site and another for the forums. That confused the heck out of me when other members have indicated that they have sent me a PM, and I couldn't find it in my inbox. I understand the technical pain...

    Nicotine Lightweight or Not?

Lightweight. I added my (otherwise excellent) Solani 633 to the box pass because I can't smoke even a 1/2 flake without the spins. A full flake had me nauseous. Simon

    What games do you play?

@scratchglfr: So you substituted one obsession for another? :-) As for Magic:TG, I had a good friend who lived in the apartment below me and we would play quite a bit when we were supposed to be working on our Masters. He and I went in a couple of tournaments, but we never took it seriously...

October 2010 - What are you smoking?

The back half of a bowl of Lane MV-1000. On the back step in the pre-dawn. There's just a sliver of moon hanging on the horizon. It'll take a few more bowls to be sure, but I think I like the MV-1000 better than the 1-Q. Simon

Merger Creates Largest Pipe Tobacco Co. in the World

That's the advantage of being buddies with the Big Wheel at PM.com! :-) Looking forward to whatever answer you get. I don't expect it will cause earth-shattering changes, myself. Simon

Merger Creates Largest Pipe Tobacco Co. in the World

As I sit here smoking CAO Eileen's Dream in my Stanwell HCA, I ask: "How will this affect me?" :-) Simon

October 2010 - What are you smoking?

Where I am in Canada is pretty mild. I can see Washington State from my house. Mostly the winter is wet and dreary. We had a really wet September, and I was forced into the garage, but so far October has been dry and beautiful. Gotta enjoy it while I can. Simon

October 2010 - What are you smoking?

Always happy to help. You could just call it The One and be all mysterious and stuff. Lane MV-1000 in my Vauen 1/2 bent rhodesian. Smoked 1/2 bowl, now back to work. DGT until later. First half was delicious and sitting in the sun on the deck was the cherry on top. Simon

    Recommended Starter Tobacco

Something to remember is that although you don't want to start out on something really strong or really complex, you also don't want to start with something so boring that you walk away. That happened to me: I was recommended a blend (burley ribbon) that in retrospect didn't do anything for me...

    What games do you play?

I love games. I don't get to play them as much as I used to, mostly due to a lack of time and competition. Back in the day, I spent a heck of a lot of time playing LAN-based computer games, mostly Marathon: Infinity and Myth, as well as playing a lot of Magic: The Gathering (collectible card...

October 2010 - What are you smoking?

I'm no expert, but I'd call it a saddle-bit 1/4 bent smooth apple. Simon

    It's friday, so who's drinkin?

It's Saturday, and after working on the house all day, it was a couple of beers from Whistler Brewing Company: an Export Lager and a Classic Pale Ale to chase it. Simon

    My new meerschaum

Very nice pipe. I like the classic design with just a little embellishment. Very understated. Simon
