    Forum Change - Need Input

Uhhh... me too. I haven't had any email since yesterday morning and I've tried following Kevin's advice in the first post above. Is this one of those "Matrix" situations? You only have to realize the truth: there is no checkbox. Will PM Kevin and see what's up. Simon

August 2010 - What are you smoking?

The last of the PS Black Currant. Was going to smoke it in the grand duke, but the bowl wasn't quite big enough. Trusty Brigham apple to the rescue! All bundled up on the deck staring at the moon. Simon

    Forum Change - Need Input

I for one will be turning the option back on. I'm on or around my computer almost all day and I don't mind the extra traffic. The emails make the threads feel like a conversation to me. I would consider switching to a digest if it was available, but probably wouldn't go for it. Keep up the...

Yuk yuk yuk! Seriously, that's a pipe that would do your login name proud, Mr. Brandybuck.

    where are you from

I live just outside of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It's just slightly drier than the west coast rainforest just an hour's drive west, but not much. We don't get much winter, just a long rainy season, an on and off spring and a dry summer. There's only a short season for outdoor pipes...

August 2010 - What are you smoking?

Blue Note in my Vauen churchwarden, but the short stem. So I guess that makes it a.. rhodesian? First bowl of the Blue Note for me. First impressions: nice flavor, easy to keep lit. Wife's not here to give me the verdict on the room note. The weather has turned cool and blustery, so I've...

    Your thoughts on churchwardens?

Here's a picture of my Stanwell HCA. This particular one has a really nice look, but it's taking a while to get used to smoking it. It has a narrow, deep bowl, and since it's a straight pipe, it's pretty difficult to keep an eye on what's going on in there... Stanwell HCA in classicgeek's photo...

    Your thoughts on churchwardens?

Two of my five pipes are chuchwardens, but each of them came with a short stem as well, so they can be smoked either way. They definitely are not a convenient smoke. You can't really do anything but sit and enjoy the smoke, since one hand will be occupied with supporting the pipe, unless you've...

    what pipe you want next

Just finished satisfying the ol' PAD and TAD. I'm just sittin' back and enjoying the fruits of my depravity. Simon

August 2010 - What are you smoking?

Mix of 50/50 McClelland Vanilla Black Cavendish and Burley Ribbon (bulk) in my Brigham 149 apple. Was in the zone tonight: no relights. Just watched Jupiter rise as the sky grew dark. 'night all. Simon

August 2010 - What are you smoking?

After lunch sitting and reading The Gathering Storm by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson and smoking Frog Morton on the Town in my Stanwell HCA churchwarden. @rybo: If you haven't tried it, McClelland's Frog Morton is a standard crossover into the English blends, and more than satisfying. On...

August 2010 - What are you smoking?

I'm just wrapping up my first bowl of Eileen's Dream and have never smoked a cigar in my life. Assuming that cigars don't taste like pipe tobacco, this is the same flavor profile in a pipe tobacco: irish cream and white chocolate. The fella in the store had a very similar comment: that he'd...

    my first true pipe

Nice pipe! Whether you like a pipe or not is such a personal and subjective thing. On Saturday I walked into a gream B&M in Portland that had three cases full of pipes. I was intending to get myself a pipe and not spend too much, but in the end only one of the 100 or so really "spoke" to me, and...

August 2010 - What are you smoking?

CAO Eileen's Dream in my Brigham 149 rusticated apple. Last night on the ferry ride home from Port Angeles to Victoria it was another bowl of 1Q in my new Vauen.

    Pictures of my Pipes II

Here are my pipes. I think that for all intents and purposes that completes the collection. Given the frequency of my smoking, a rotation lasts about three weeks... :-D First the family portrait: My first pipe, a Brigham 149 rusticated apple: A Stanwell Hans Christian Andersen churchwarden...
