    Tomorrow!

(Jealous) This has opened Pandora's Box again, where my wife has started complaining about her five year old Nokia POS. So do I go for the 4S and then donate my 4 to her, or get her a 4 at the new cheaper rate? Decisions, decisions. Of course, it'll be Christmas before I can get my...

    Serendipitous deal

Aw, c'mon guys. I thought the little laughing icon would give it away. I've got two kids who love Dora the Explorer. I've almost gotten to the point where I understand that little squirrel jabbering away about nutty butter cookies. :-) That was a sweet deal you got on the FM. Good of you to...

Getting Acquainted By G. L. Pease

There's something about having to wait for a new pipe in the mail. Getting a new one means it steals the show for a little while, but then you end up appreciating all of the nuances that your old pipes have and loving them all the more. I still smoke my very first pipe regularly. Every one...

September, 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

Tonight I conducted a grand experiment: PS Black Currant Cavendish and Solani X Sweet Mystery back-to-back in sister Brigham bulldogs. They both are aromatics dominated by black currant and I wanted to compare them. I have to say that they are pretty different. Whether it's just the difference...

Nothing like pop'in a fresh tin

Best ever tin note for me was Solani 633 Va/Per flake. It was unlike anything I'd ever smelled. Pity that it was too strong for me. So I put it away to await some future date when I'll try it again... Gotta love those freshly opened tins. Simon

TAD and where you store your tobacco

I've settled on a wicker chest for holding my tobacco. Since I tend to be more of an occasional smoker with a wandering eye for new blends, I immediately transfer anything opened or bulk to 250 ml wide mouth mason jars, which fit nicely. They hold 2oz (or 50g) of tobacco. The chest itself is a...

    im crossing my fingers here

My wife's grandfather smoked a pipe, and she's tried to find pics on the web of what it looked like, but no success so far. I might prod her to ask her grandmother (still kicking at over 90) if she still has it. Good luck with you uncle. Simon

    The Elusive Baccyflap

LOL on the whole thread. Nice UFO, Bubba! Pipegoddess, I may have to scrounge through my wife's makeup kit. She'll be understanding about that, right? Simon

    Tobacco shipped to Canada

Yay! I just got a package from Pipes and Cigars and it appears to have arrived intact without extra hassle from the Canadian Revenue Agency. It was only 8 oz ($31) in total, so it may have successfully flown under the radar. Happy, happy, joy, joy! Simon
