August 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

Last night it was McClelland Raspberries and Cream in my trusty ol' Brigham 1/8 bent rusticated apple. It was a warm, clear night and just an amazing experience all 'round. Simon

Lighters - Your main and your backup

I picked up a Zippo with the pipe insert yesterday. Just couldn't keep the matches lit outdoors except in a dead calm. Had a POS cheap pipe lighter that couldn't reliably light gunpowder, let alone tobacco. Simon

    Lane MV 1000

When the box pass came my way, I gave it a try and loved it, so I snagged the whole baggie. Now it's gone. Yes, it's very similar to 1-Q, same casing, different tobaccos. Worthy of a spot in the rotation, but I've got a bit of 1-Q to smoke right now. After that I might give the Mac...

August 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

Happy Birthday, hilojohnny! Tonight was an experiment: half and half Eileen's Dream and Vintage Syrian. My wife loves the aro, but I wanted to punch up the flavor a bit. I think it was pretty good. Every once in a while I'd get some major latakia flavor. All in my fave pipe: a half bent...

Do you have a working pipe?

My work pipe is a Dr. Grabow Omega. It's small and light and easy to clench. It was a badly beat up estate pipe that I essentially got for free, so no worries if harm befalls it. Plus the draw on it is really tight so I can't get tongue bite, even if I'm not paying attention. Simon

How Many Open Tins Do You Have?

I move stuff out of the tins and into jars as soon as I pop 'em, so no open tins technically. But I do have 5 different tin blends on the go: Vintage Syrian, FMOTT, Blue Note, X Sweet Mystery, Eileen's Dream, plus three bulk blends: Colombian Mocha, Raspberry Cream and 1-Q. Simon

Will smoking Nightcap in the middle of the day throw off ur mojo

You're violating the laws of the Universe. Please turn in your pipe and tamper. :D It's a bugger having to fly to Ireland every time I feel like a bowl of Eileen's Dream. Simon

How Many Guitarists Do We Have Here?

Been playing guitar since I was 18. Took up drums a little while ago. Never been in a band. I don't have enough friends for that. :) Got a Fender Stratocaster, Yamaha AES 620, BC Rich cutaway acoustic and a handmade classical guitar. My wife has a Gibson V. She a big Scorpions fan, so we play a...

    It would be nice

Give me enough warning and I'll justify a road trip with the family all the way from B.C.! Simon

Violet is a Blonde Blue-Eyed Babe that is Literally and Figuratively Smoking!

I second Lawrence! Pipe ain't bad, either, although it's probably about the 8th or 9th thing that caught my interest in the photo. Simon

    Curse you Lawrence!!!!

Rainbows and unicorns: ROFL! 1Q and it's close relative MV 1000 have assumed a regular spot in my rotation. It's such an easy smoke, it's perfect for the right occasion, like reading. Simon

    trying some new tobaccos.

FMOTT is my "English" staple. I've got some Mac Baren Vintage Syrian… I wonder what mixing a bit of that in would be like…? Simon
