Decent Briar for under $50?
Is it possible to get a decent briar pipe for under $50? I'm not trying to be too picky (I know I can't be at this range), but I want to quickly build up a little bit of a rotation and I'm on a budget. All I'm really looking for is (1) real briar (do not want cobs--tried them, not my thing)... -

Just Bought Another American Brewed Beer.
Rebel IPA is good stuff. Most things SA brews are solid. I think of them almost like the Dunhill of craft-brewers--they tend to hit a sweet-spot in their formulae that--though not the most flavorful nor everyone's favorite--still manages to rate solidly to most people's taste. Rustication and Blasting
I can't argue with the process the Castello carvers follow when making pipes. But Castello's smooth finished pipes are graded by the quality of their grain; some of them are quite literally of a higher grade briar than others. And they don't bother grading their carved pipes for grain quality...- ryeguy

Rustication, like distressing wood in other contexts, covers over natural imperfections. I've always assumed that pipemakers cut the pipe, and if notable imperfections show up in the briar after it's been cut, they rusticate it, while the ones without notable imperfections get sanded smooth; so...- ryeguy

Sumusfumus, mentioned elsewhere, but I'd recommend Orlik Golden Sliced, if you haven't had it.
