As others have said, I think it's more about broadening your horizons. I would think of it more as "I want to give this blend an honest try" because sometimes you don't fall in love with a blend right off the bat. And tastes change as well so giving a blend an honest try a few times and finding it's not right for you at the moment doesn't mean that you won't love that blend somewhere down the road. Sometimes you may prefer that blend after it's had time to age or when your tastes change over time. For example, McClelland 5100 was honestly very boring the first few times I tried it coming from stronger flavored VA's. Once I tasted some with some age on it though I realized that I needed a few pounds of it :puffy:

I want to like Sutliff 507c (because it would save me a lot of money). But I don't.
I want to like Elizabethan (because people make it sound so good), but I just don't taste what others do.
I would be a lemming with no taste if I smoked them anyway and raved about how good they are--even though I don't like them.

The object is to find something you like, not to like something someone else likes. Tried it, don't like it, move on.
