have A old swiss pipe wondering the age

Could it be a BBK Swiss Made pipe? Plug that into Google and see if it matches anything you see. You can also search ebay with that for comparable pipes.

Thanks for the review. Sounds like a good buy.

Hearth & Home Ten to Midnight

@dave g The 8 oz tins seem to come and go. I ordered my favorite Blend No 5 in those until it became unavailable. Just bought some Ambassador's and Larry's blend in that size. I'll have to try Ten to Midnight sometime.

    Newbee On-Board

I'd get an Idaho PO Box. Here's the gist of the mail order law: (1) A person may not: (a) Ship or transport, or cause to be shipped or transported, any tobacco product ordered or purchased by mail or through the internet to anyone in this state other than a licensed wholesale or retailer...

Show off Your Large Bent Billiards.

This is my very first pipe which my then girlfriend, now wife, bought for me after high school graduation in 1973. We were walking around a mall when we went into a Tinderbox. This pipe has traveled with me all during my military career and beyond. Maybe I should ask my wife to bury it with me...

    My Computer Took A Dump

It's not that hard to build your own desktop computer. You don't save much money but if something does go out on it you can fix it yourself. That's where you save a lot of money.

I Am a YouTube Pipe Presenter

@deathmetal wrote: I'm glad to hear this from someone else. There's nothing worse than starting a video, have a guy hop into a seat in front of cheap camera and spend the first 60 seconds lighting his pipe, talk haltingly for a minute but then the pipe goes out. Relight, repeat for the next 10...

Got Me a Big 'ol Marxman

Thanks, I'm very happy with it. The worst part was the rim. There was scorching under all that lava so I had to do a bit of sanding and restaining. Other than that I'd say it was in pretty good shape.

    Oak Pipe

There is a lot on the web regarding wood toxicity. It seems some types of oak are associated with nose and throat cancer, but that's if you breath the dust or smoke from a fire. It would give me pause, but the burning tobacco probably has a much higher risk than the pipe burning it. I read an...

House Pipes Should Have Informative Stamping

I do a lot of bottom feeding on ebay looking for the diamonds in the rough or just nice anonymous pipes. So I do have a lot of pipes in my collection that have no markings, or sometimes if I'm lucky, just a country of origin stamp. If the pipe really intrigues me I'll post questions about them...

    Kaywoodie Stems

I offer you this one. I have no idea what pipe it came from, though it must have had a fairly small shank or maybe some sort of freehand looking stummel. Like backaroo said, there doesn't seem to have been a standard sized fitting. This one doesn't fit on any of my Kaywoodies.

Got Me a Big 'ol Marxman

Here's my most recent Marxman and probably my last for awhile. I'm way over my PAD budget this month. I had to do a little sanding and restaining.

For the reasons gloucesterman gave, I use my smaller pipes for leftovers such as what you have there.

I've never seen a pipe with a melanoma. I give it six months to live.

Thank you gentlemen. The evidence seems to be convincing. Maybe some more details will come to light.

Show Off Your Dr. Grabow Pipes Here!

Here's a No 23 I just added to the collection today. It's in mint condition. No stamping or branding on it other than "Imported Briar". It could probably use a minute on the wheel. Maybe later.

    Will Power Fails to PAD

jdhayes: Yes, that would be nice, but I really doubt it's compatible with anything out there. I've got enough loose bowls (had to watch my typing there) floating around here from various manufacturers I can certainly see if any fit.

    Who Made "Natural" Pipes?

Some time back I bought an estate pipe with an English royal coat of arms stamped on it with the word "Natural" next to it. Underneath it is stamped "Imported Briar". I was never able to find out what company might have manufactured it and just wrote it off as another basket pipe. Then I bought...

    Will Power Fails to PAD

A minor relapse but still backsliding for sure. I couldn't resist the beckoning of the Smokingpipes.com ad in my mailbox this morning heralding the arrival of some new Ropp pipes. I clicked just to have a look and found myself intensely interested in an all briar (no metal) Falcon-like pipe...

So, My Wife Bought Me Genuine Gandalf and Frodo Pipes for Christmas.

Smoke them. If you decide to sell them some day you can say they were actually smoked by Gandalph and Frodo. That kind of provenance should add at least another $10.00 to the price =) Seriously though, $110 is not a lot to spend on a pipe. Think of the enjoyment you will gain by smoking it. Will...
