Got my University Deluxe Pipe today, a standard billiard; in short, this is a terrific pipe. It's everything P&C and Russ up above say it it. It's light, easy to clench, and delivers what I am sure will be a great smoke once it breaks in, which I think will only be a matter of a day or two at most. (My first two smokes were pretty good in their own right.) Nomenclature is clearly stamped, not just with ink, but directly into the wood with the unaffected type UNIVERSITY DELUXE; has a few unfilled pits the size of a sand grain, but these are waxed over so they look like, and are, a natural part of the pipe; don't know if the vulcanite stems are original, but they look brand new and seamlessly attached. Draw is easy and pleasant, and the waxing directly over the attractive grain is well done. This is an ideal no-frills classic pipe, perfect if you want a briar instead of a cob while working at the lawn, gardening, or workbench, or plain just relaxing; with classic slender lines, it holds it's own anywhere. I'm going to get another one or two; another standard billiard, which is, as Russ tells us, is a tad smaller than mediums sized pipes of today (it happens to be the right size that I've been looking for) and the large billiard. They have a nice selection of these pipes, including paneled. Russ, be sure to save some of these for me!
