    Can anyone identify this pipe?

@unclescot, That pipe certainly has character. I like pipes with character.

    Hacksaw Ridge Review

@tbradsim1 I want to add my thanks for your service. God bless you and yours. My dad was a combat veteran and I lived through the effects that brought upon him and his family until the day he passed. (RIP, Dad) So true about the lack of movie theater etiquette. The last movie I saw in public...

    Death of a tree...

weezell, Coincidentally, I just had a 75 ft Silver Maple taken down. It had some pretty large branches hanging over the house. I was really sorry to see it go, but it was just too big and too close to the house. It was 60 years old. I wish the power company would have done mine. I had to pay...

    Choosing Christmas Tobacco (Help?)

I just burned through my stash of Russ' Monthly Blend - Yule Log and enjoyed that very much.

    Auction or used pipes

If I were in your position, I'd look for pipes that were not in such condition I couldn't repair them. Look at the pipe overall and check for cracks or large dark spots that might indicate the bowl is burning through. If the stem doesn't fit right, is broken or has large holes in the bit and...

    Updating My Resume

I sat in on a few interviews for new applicants over the years. What we were looking for most is somebody eager to tell us what skills they had that they could bring to our organization and make it better. Customer service and communication skills were always high on our checklists. Then we...

    F**k there thieves

I feel for you. There are too frequent reports of pipe thefts from members. It's very discouraging. We just have to keep our belongings chained to us, I guess.

    Any Hammies Here?

A HAM operator in 1950 was able to notify my grandparents in Long Beach, California that their son had not been been KIA in the Korean War as had been reported to them. He was able to get word to them that he had been airlifted to a hospital in Japan and would be okay. They always wanted to get...

    Oxy-Clean?

I use Kroger's generic "Multipurpose Oxy Cleaner". Works great.

Stanwell lines/quality? Help me navigate please.

The Stanwell behind the Sav 320 is one I got during the same sale Jud got his. It's light, smokes cool and is comfortable to clench. It gets picked up and smoked lot.

Pipe Lover Magazines (1946) - Downloads

Thanks very much for access to those. Some fascinating articles in those scans. My favorite so far is the pipe that Tracy Mincer had carved for presentation Stalin! At the time it was valued at $1000.00. That's nearly $11,000. in today's money. Incidentally, I recently watched a documentary on...

    Shipping Silliness

That is ridiculous. I had a similar packaging experiance when I ordered a Buttner reamer from Amazon.com. It was so lost in the cavernous box full of packing peanuts that I was ready to believe they forgot to put it in there.

    Darn Post Office

I'm not so sure that applies in the US. I've never, ever had anything misdelivered by FedEx or UPS. USPS? Almost weekly.

What Would I Find Underneath This White Paint?

Those "White Briar" Kaywoodies definitely have that mid century modern thing going for them, if you are into that.I have a few in my collection but I don't smoke them, not after all the trouble I went to in getting them white again =)

    2 Ropp Cutty pipes

I had to look that up on Pipedia. It's called the spur and was added to clay pipes to strengthen the bowl. Now it's just an ornament.

If They Sold By Volume Instead of Weight

I first learn this when I ordered 8oz of dried up PS Balkan Supreme at a local tobacco store. The proprietor was not happy about the number of scoops it was taking to make 8oz. It wasn't much of problem to re-hydrate it when I got home.

    2 Ropp Cutty pipes

hakchuma, I was really surprised to see your post tonight because I just got my Ropp cutty today from smokingpipes.com and just finished the first smoke. It's a very nice pipe to walk around the house with. Feather light. I've always admired the cutty shape but waited until the right one came...

    Backbreaking 'Til The Last Minute

I appreciated reading you story. After you get settled at your new location look into any creative spaces that might be available at a community college. For the price of class you might get access to tools and materials. You also might make some creative connections through the faculty or other...
