    Differences in briar pipes

Another piece of the puzzle that has been touched on already, but not really identified is craftsmanship. Specifically I am referring to things like: - symmetry of the pipe (particularly noticeable on diamond shank pipes) - alignment of the draft holes through the stem & shank - concentricity...

Bent Pipes - Tip of the Day

Fingernail polish! Why didn't I think of that? One of my first 2 pipes (I can't remember which pipe exactly...either a GBD or a BC) has a loose stem. I tried a buffing some carnauba (a bit heavily) on the stem, which tightened it up some...but it is still a bit too loose to me. Time to dig...

    Coloring Meerschaums

That is a beauty Lawrence! I've thought about getting one for a very long time...might be time to resume my search.

    New pipe question

I was thinking Bjarne also... the shape just seems very Bjarne-ish :) Although I think the stamping is usually on the underside of the shank. Bjarne second?

    Pictures of my pipes

I already don't remember what blend I smoked in it! As I recall...first smoke resulted in "fine gray ash" with "only 1 light"! LOL! I'm not sure what Jonesing is doing wrong! Seriously though, I'm pretty certain that I smoked a burley/cavendish blend that usually smokes pretty cool, and maybe...

May 2010 - What are you smoking?

Peterson Sweet Killarney in a Dunhill Root Briar. Picked it up yesterday and is the first bowl I've tried... Mild flavor but a little bitey at times (I assume it is the VA, which doesn't play well with me usually) Yesterday was bowl of Davidoff Danish Mixture in my little Yello-bole pug...

    Carnuba Wax inside stem

Definitely nothing to be worried about. Pure carnauba wax is basically inert. It is sometimes used as a coating on dental floss, candy, and pharmaceutical caplets/tablets. When mixed with other chemicals to create car waxes and such, it may be a different story.... FWIW...here is a link to...

    Another B&M lost to taxes...

I came across this article just recently...it simply infuriated me. I don't live in Utah any more (moved to away 12 years ago), but my first few pipes were purchased at Jeanie's back in '97-98. I'm sorry to see it going out of business. A 51% tax increase on existing inventory is absolutely...

    Pictures of my pipes

As Vitor noted...Robert Cooper (coopersark on ebay) is a great merchant to deal with. He always ships very quickly and he is open, honest, and accurate in his descriptions of the pipes he has for auction. I have purchased a few pipes from him and have not been disappointed. Definitely worth...
