    Tobacco in Washington State.

As Ted mentioned...some fine establishments are willing to ship to WA(if you are willing to take the risk) 8O Otherwise...you may be in luck since you are in Tacoma. There is a small place called Tacoma Tins that is reported to have 100-ish different tobaccos in stock. I haven't been there...

    "Who Let the Dogs Out?!"

Figured I'd add my dogs to the pack: My Pack Albatross (pretty certain this is a Savinelli Second - it even has a shape stamp of 514KS) Castello GBD Kirsten (sorta Bulldog-ish) London Crown (bent Rhodesian) Sasieni 4-dot Stanwell Viprati

June 2011 - What are you Smoking?

I am enjoying the first truly beautiful day we've had in Seattle this year. Sitting on the deck, watching the birds... A bowl of 7 Seas Royal in my Flame Grain GBD bent bulldog. A cup of coffee to accompany!

    "Who Let the Dogs Out?!"

The answer to that question is debatable. Most agree that the basic shape of a bulldog/rhodesian is defined by the beveled edge at the mouth of the bowl (the cross section resembles two cones put together and the points cut off). The bowl typically (not always) has a one or more grooves cut...

    Nasty, stinky stem/shank - help!

Be careful when doing a bleach treatment on the stem if the stinger is permanent. Take a look at this thread for an example of what can happen. If it were me...I would alternate soaking/scrubbing the stem with 91% isopropyl until I felt it was clean, followed with a thorough rinse. I would...

    Kaywoodie Stinger Removal

If it is a Kaywoodie with a thread-in stem, don't try to pull it out. The threads are the only way to attach the stem to the shank. Pulling out the stinger would be equivalent to cutting the tenon off a push-in stem.

    Kaywoodie Stinger Removal

Take a look at this thread: http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/kaywoodie-drinkless-pipes I posted sorta decent picture of a couple Kaywoodie stems that I removed the stinger using a dremel. No real difficulty in removing the stinger...just be sure you don't remove the threads.

Widening the bore on Stanwells a good idea?

Happens to the best of us!

Widening the bore on Stanwells a good idea?

Here are a couple of additional ways to hold and turn a drill bit by hand... I have found that pliers are sometimes difficult to use as they don't get a very good bite on a hard, smooth drill bit. T-Handle Tap Holder Keyless Hex-Drive Drill Chuck Generally a good idea to use a few sizes of bits...

    screw type stingers - O-rings?

I have a few Kaywoodies, but have never seen one with an o-ring. Kirsten pipes, on the other hand, do have a couple o-rings.

    Kaywoodie Drinkless Pipes

I have a couple Kaywoodie pipes and found it a bit annoying that I couldn't stuff a pipe cleaner through them. So I modified them by removing the ball of the stingers. Easy enough to do with a dremel cut-off wheel...just make sure you don't remove the threads. Keep in mind that modifying the...

Aberlour A'Bunadh or Lagavulin Scotch 16 Year

Just finished off a bottle of Ardbeg 17 last night. A fine whisky! I've got a couple of glasses very similar to the one in the pictures that I picked up during my visit to Edinburgh. @Phil: Out of curiosity, I did a quick google search for "whisky nosing glass" and found that they can be...

Aberlour A'Bunadh or Lagavulin Scotch 16 Year

I've not tried that particular blend of Aberlour, but I can provide the description from the menu I brought home from "The Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre" in Edinburgh. "Aberlour A'bunadh: Intense fruity flavours, buttery & creamy with a syrupy fruit sweetness & rich chocolate orange notes."...

    two bowl pipe?

I suspect that it is nearly impossible to actually smoke both bowls at the same time. You would need to spend a fair amount of effort making the draw through both chambers equal. Air will pass through the path of least resistance. You could pack both chambers then cap/plug one of them and...

    Seattle Trip Day 1

Glass pipes and hookah seem to be abundant in greater Seattle area. Just about any smoke shop around has plenty. I'm hoping that the next time I am in the Portland, OR area I will have time to stop by Rich's. It looks like a fantastic place!

    Seattle Space Needle

They do sell miniature space needles at the space needle gift shop. I don't recall all that well, but I think they might be a bit on the large side for a tamper. I'll have to take a closer look next time a family member comes to visit and want to see the needle.

@Fred: The space needle still has a rotating restaurant. As expected though, it is overpriced and not that great of food.

    Seattle Trip Day 1

I think I watched some of that video on the web. Is this from the attempt of the Seattle Pipe Club to have pipe tobacco excluded from the tobacco shipping laws (state senate hearing)? I think she was the individual who stated that their research indicated that some 30,000...
