*** What Are You Smoking?*** (January 2017)

First, it was Wessex BVF in a Vauen churchwarden... and it was disappointing... I don't know why... I think it was just me. Went back after supper for Jack Lee Blends Beowulf in a MM Legend which was VERY good.

Anybody else try adding Grousemoor to Coniston Cut Plug?

I have a strange soft-spot for Grousemoor... not sure why... bizarre stuff but when the mood hits, strangely satisfying. Maybe it was something about being a blend George III's soldiers might have been smoking whilst we ravening colonials were kicking their buttz. Also it's the glowing...

    Lazy, Foggy Sunday

Here in north central PA it seems like relentless fog, gloom, wet, cold - but not JANUARY cold, rheumatic, vile, evil dark unremitting slough of despond sort of thing. I am finding it increasingly depressing. BUT, that being said, a nice pipe lights a little warm glow in the middle of all...

Fox News Contributor Has Pipe Rack On Desk

Ha! Found another one! For the record: I ain't never heerd of this fellow til Dave G posted the above. I gave up media talking heads a very long time ago and only read news and commentary with as few pictures as possible and no video. That being said, any contemporary person with PIPES...

New Life for Tin Art - Jar Labels

I just print tin-art image files on normal paper with max dimensions no more than 2.5" and then use permanent paste to put them on my favored wide-mouthed mason jar lids. Not as much lid-coverage nor as fancy, but does the job quickly, easily, and inexpensively, and at least keeps the tin art...

Plug Etc Cutter - Alaskan Ulu with Matched Bowl

@papipeguy Could you post a pic, info, and or link on the sharpener pretty please? I just used this again and am stunned by the ease and simplicity of it!!! Not bad for like a 25,000 year old technological concept!

    Churchwarden suggestions

I have a Vauen churchwarden that I really love: It came with two stems so one can go "short" if desired. I also just saw some Ropp pipes on SPC that might really fit your bill!

    A Wessex pipe...

Superbly magnificent pipe!! AND a 9mm to boot! Snowyowl, I'm a 9mm man myself and frequently get frustrated with the dearth of really pretty 9mm pipes in the American market. Yours is GORGEOUS! Love the birdseye and satiny finish!

    Removing Ash at mid bowl

I am only recently discovering the joy of occasional ash-dumping... usually in deeper bowled pipes where I really want to get to where the tobac really shines! An ash dump and then a wee very light handed stir of remaining ribbons with as gentle a tamp as a pat on a baby's bottom...

Plug Etc Cutter - Alaskan Ulu with Matched Bowl

I remember not too long ago some discussion here about plug cutters, vintage and antique ones, more available modern substitutes etc. I am certain someone mentioned Alaskan ulu-s. After trying a variety of unsatisfactory other knives and kitchen gadget substitutes, on a whim, I threw an ulu...
