I'm lucky to live in a city without an open bottle ordinance. It is perfectly acceptable to drink a beer on the sidewalk, and I do. Get out of hand and certainly there will be consequences, but I have never seen it become a problem.- elessar

Finally Bought A Pete
I think my pipe has the old coating or the stummel is stained inside and out. The bowl was jet black when I got it. In either case, I have not noticed any ill effects from the coating. -
