    Dunhill Unicorn? Or Massive Fail?

EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9) Okay my wiser Brothers of the Pipe, tell me if I landed an extraordinary briar or no. You can see the stamping. If I am reading it right, it is a 1979, group 6. No other numbers because...it's a quaint? I have been unable to find any other...

    Showoff Your Dunhill Pipes Here!

Dunhill Unicorn or Dunhill Failacorn? Okay my wiser Brothers of the Pipe, tell me if I landed an extraordinary briar or no. You can see the stamping. Seems to be a '79 group 6. No other numbers because...it's a quaint? I have been unable to find any other Dunhills out there close to this...

Why Prof. Einstein Smoked Pipe This Way?

The gap has to do with their being frequent smokers. Their pipes ran hot. That heat clearly ended up melting the decorative silver rings.

    Chicago Pipe Show 2020 Plans

Not to be too simplistic about things but is there some particular reason it could not be reschedule for later in the year? And not too be too optimistic but, well, mightn't it actually work out better scheduled later given the rocky and relatively late confirmation this year?

    Chicago Pipe Show 2020 Plans

I think my job will bring me near Chicago at the time of the show, but I won't be staying in the area. Is one permitted to just drop in at the show and hang out for a couple of hours?

Terrific suggestions, thanks everyone. I did try writing to Cooke through his website. Hopefully a response soon. Other suggestions are much appreciated.

    Weird JT Cooke; Weird Damage.

Recently received this as a gift from a family member who gave up smoking some years back. I noticed it was damaged so I looked up the maker and was pleasantly surprised to learn about JT Cooke and his pipes...only this one is not like his pipes. From the images you can see where the damage...

    Bamboo Shank Hole

Good advice, thanks. And I should not ever let any insects smoke my pipes?

    Bamboo Shank Hole

Maybe. Don't know which insects smoke too hot.

The reflected light points to the part of the shank where the node (if that is the right term) is missing.

    Bamboo Shank Hole

EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9) - Bob Was just given a lovely Erik Nording from 1998 with a nice bit of bamboo between the briar shank and the stem. As I was inspecting it, I noticed that one of the nodes (a spot where a bamboo branch would emerge) was missing. I held my...

    Viprati PAD

I picked up a Viprati volcano last summer in Rome at Novelli's. Wow, I thought my volcano was a good example of their work. Your's is fantastic. Is it the light or does the shank get flat on the lower side? Very nice pipe. Congrats.

    Hiking in the Ozarks

Wow, I never knew Arkansas was so popular! And we even have a tobacconist in Little Rock that is pretty good. (And, yes, another in Bentonville, up north.) Good people, good place.

JF Germain and Jersey - Honeymoon

Congratulations. Hm, I am trying to imagine selling this to my wife. Walking down street in St. Helier, near the quay..."Oh, hey love, would you look at that? It seems to be a tobacco making factory. I wonder if they will let us tour!" My wife would smirk and then kick me in the shins.

    Dunhill Pipes Are Overrated

Years ago my younger bro was also a pipe smoker, and rich, and he sent me an estate Dunny for my birthday. I think it is a seventies vintage. The straight poker was not terribly appealing to me but I was impressed with the name. Okay, fine, fancy pipe. Then I smoked it. I recall actually...

    Van Gogh Smoked a Peterson?

Well, he certainly made a good impression. (See, impression, like Impressionists, like impressionistic painting? Would have worked better if not for his being one of the Post Impressionists. Ah, well, it's late...)
