    Nice small lighter

Neat small lighter ... that I can totally see me burning myself with; that flint wheel has to get hot!

Looking for the right English blend

Many good choices already mentioned but I'll throw in another Smoker's Haven Exotique, some very tasty stuff. Here is the TobaccoReviews.com link, too.

    Refinishing vs Reshaping

From your photo it looks like topping the bowl wouldn't be too much work. But the look of it is very much personal preference; if you are happy with it, leave it be. If you decide to top it go over to Reborn Pipes and search for bowl topping and you'll get a ton of helpful info.

    Is Oxyclean scented?

The way I use it, after soaking the stem it gets washed well with dish soap and then cleaned with 91% alcohol so there's not residue. As far as it being scented, I don't believe it is.

    Funny eBay Listing

It kind of makes me feel more personally connected with the seller in an odd way. I actually would be more apt to bid on it because of the cat and his (Tim's) statement!

Dr. Plumb 233 Estate Before & After

Nice job. Hope it smokes well for you.

    Kaywoodie Super Grain Restoration

Thank you, gents. This one was not only a lot of fun to do but is also a joy to smoke. I agree that the "secret" is out on these fine old briars.

    Mason Jar Labels

These are cool ... way cooler than the snips of index card I tape onto my jars!

    Kaywoodie Super Grain Restoration

I finally got this pipe all finished up. It's a good smoker so far and I really like the shape. There are a few more photos and the general write up over at Reborn Pipes if you are interested in more.

    Ageing in Mason Jars Question

There are a lot of folks that don't heat-seal the jars at all, only tighten the lid down and leave it along. In my personal experience this works just fine. As said above, it can take time to vacuum seal, if that is what you are going for. In this case, no matter how you end up doing it, you...

    Brigham Estate Restoration (14 pictures)

No problem. Did you happen to rub a little beeswax on the tenon? Does wonder on too tight or too loose stems.

Milan Tobacconists - Any thoughts on this company?

I know several folks that order there regularly and love them. Personally, I plan to try them out as soon as all things "line up" to make an order from them.

    Brigham Estate Restoration (14 pictures)

That is a rather unique looking stem/ bit; I'd be interested to know more about it, too. Sometimes tar and buildup inside the mortise/shank will cause a very tight fit, both hard to remove and replace. I found out the (almost) hard way to always really clean that are real well before reducing...

    Stem Sticking

If the stem has been seperated from the shank for a lond time period atmosphere/environment issues might be the culprit, as may moisture from the recent cleaning. You may need to wait a few days for the briar and stem to get back to "normal" before assembling the pipe. As suggested, when you do...

    How Do You Pack Escudo?

I either do as coalsmoke does but make a loose "cannonball" of one coin that goes in first, then the two-topper. IMHO Escudo is a wee bit hard to get going real well. But once it's burning it is heavenly. :puffy:

Ric certainly seems like a fine guy. He has a YouTube channel, too, if one is interested in seeing more if him and his work.

Tobacco Blender Russ Ouellette on Radio Show Jan 16, 2014

I got behind on episodes over the holidays and just got to listen to this one last night. I really enjoyed Russ' interview; he seems like such a great guy and definitely a wealth of knowledge and terrific blender. Thanks for bringing this to us!
