Advice please - lightweight, short stroll smoker

I have that pipe that Pipe Novelist linked to: it is a nice, small pipe like you're looking for. PM me if you are interested in one; it is too small for me, personally, and would be under your budget.

Mac Baren HH Old Dark Fired Kentucky

I think I'll try the ready run next time. I usually rub out my flakes anyway - except ODF is really good cubed, too. Now I'm torn again! LOL

    Time Keepers

I can't wear a wristwatch due to arthritis anymore. So , I have opted for a cheap pocketwatch that I (and my grandson) love. Since I mostly wear jeans I always have a watch poker to put it in, too. I tried the check-the-phone thing but my wife said it was rude to do in church … and I can check...

    Shaving

Like others here, I like the ritual of wet shaving. It is indeed a lot like the "fiddling" of pipe smoking (that's my wife's term, not mine lol). And as also mentioned, I actually look forward to shaving now, much as I did way back when. In fact, I've been down in my back the last few days and...

    Shaving

I used to use DE safety razors and loved them … until I couldn't get blades locally anymore about 15 years ago. A month or so ago I bought a cheap Chinese DE three piece from Amazon and liked it a fair bit. So I went back and got the Parker 99 heavyweight I really wanted and LOVE it! I use...

    Requesting Some GL Pease Suggestions

+1 on the Key Largo. Also Quiet Nights is very good; IMHO very similar to the legendary Penzance.

    Picked Up A Couple Corns

+1 on MM cobs. I always have 3-5 and always enjoy them. Just shy away from the cheap-o Chinese ones :!:

    Ghosting

A Lakeland ghost, just crush that baby with the heal of your boot. It takes an old school VooDoo priestess and a dozen sacrificed chickens to remove those ghosts.

    Keep It or Toss it?

Steve over at Reborn Pipes has used MinWax on several of his restorations to no ill effect that I am aware of. I'd keep it!

Parker's Ferrowood _ Help Dating Please

I picked up this pipe recently and am not having much luck with finding a lot of information on it. It is stamped: Parker's over Ferrowood (with an empty diamond in the middle). These is also a "5" stamped forward of the Parker's. On the right side of the shank it is stamped: Made in London...

    Greenhorn

Lots of good advice here, as usual. I'd a suggestion or two on tobacco blends: Dunhill Nightcap (high nicotine and good, rounded flavor), Classic Burley Kake, and Escudo; I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. I like to rest my briar pipes at least one day for each bowl smoked in it...
