McClelland: "We're Just Going to Close the Doors"

Unbelievable find. I am just heartbroken over McClelland closing so I go to one of my favorite restaurants, eat a fine meal, have two glasses of Pinot Noir and leave. On a lark I stop by the local B&M and I swear there are two Tudor Castle Arcade tins (2009)on the shelf, one tin of #27 and a...

Good for them! They have contributed immensely to our hobby for decades and I will miss them dearly.

    Those Aged Aromatics

I have eight ounces of Mates aromatic from the 70’s and it’s held up fine. Anything from Boswell’s will hold up as far as I can tell (some three years old and still great). Holy Smoke from Oxmore in Louisville and Celebration from Mission Pipe Shope in San Jose hold up too.

Watch City Cigar’s Deep Elem would fit that criteria very well I believe.

    What Lighter to Get?

I have all but two lighters mentioned in this thread. The Kiribi is by far the best of the lot in my opinion.

    Got Radice?

I have five, three reverse calabash, one twin bore oil cured and a underwood dublin, all are great smoker’s. I had an issue with one new aero billiard and Leonardo from Al Pascia read it on this forum, reached out to me and worked with Radice to reach a satisfactory conclusion. I didn’t even buy...

Ignoring the Super Bowel, Cooking Instead

Daughter and possible future son in law just left the house. Taco soup, corn bread and almost two bottles of wine were on the menu. TV never came on and possible son in law said “This is the best super bowl party I’ve ever been to.”

    Who Else Is Retired?

I’ve got seven to twelve years left before I retire. I envy you folks a little. Congratulations.

    What Is Everyone Drinking Tonight?

Two ounces of 1792. I’m washing it doen with some Potlach in a RC Radice.

    The Shortest Pipe You Own?

Mine would be 4.25 to 4.75. They are all reverse calabash, 4 Radice and 1 Thorpe. I love them as they seem to subdue the bite from some of the tobacco’s I enjoy.

    Inherited Pipe Collection Questions

Both of these pipes can be repaired. Especially the one with the broken stem. Mike Myers at Walker Pipe Repair did an outstanding job on a Brian Ruthenberg XXL I have. The bottom one will be more extensive but should come out fine.
