Cedar and Antler Tamper My Son Made

Thank you, gents. I'm hopeful he will start carving again; he never has gotten over that nasty cut a few years ago.

Cedar and Antler Tamper My Son Made

My son sawed out a block of cedar to carve this tamper. He put whitetail antler on both ends and used a mahogany stain. It came out real nice IMHO.

    A Lighter That Isn't Useless?

If you have a Zippo don't spend money on an insert; send it to their Repair Clinic and they will put a Zippo pipe insert into your lighter and send it back (usually with the old insert, too) for free. They also fix hinges and other small things that might be wrong with it while they have it...

I'd like a good intro in to strong Burley blends. Is Orlik dark strong Kentucky

I concur that C&D is the king 'o burley. I'd add BurlepFlake #3 and Haunted Bookshop to the already fine list here.

IM Corona Old Boy Father's Day Gift

I think it's from the flame "hole" rotating on its own; I've read others have this problem. I use a small pair of needle nosed pliers to rotate it back every so often but it ends up rotating away every time. I sent it off to Xikar (should be there tomorrow) for other repairs so hopefully they'll...

    Cleaning a Cob?

I just went through this problem this week. I have a Country Gentleman I ghosted with Ennerdale - almost a year ago. Probably 100 bowls later it was still ghosted. I cleaned the shank out real well with alcohol and cotton swabs first then I filled the cob with grounds from freshly brewed coffee...

    A Lighter That Isn't Useless?

Vertigo makes some pretty decent and inexpensive pipe lighters, as does Lotus. I'm of the opinion that these lighters need to be properly cared for and maintained: if you want something to toss about, jingle with "stuff" in a pocket you probably best stay with a Zippo or Bic.

IM Corona Old Boy Father's Day Gift

I have a chrome Xikar Pipeline, too, as mentioned above. The entire top arm and cap get blackened with soot from use. It can be cleaned with pipe cleaners, cotton swabs and saliva (or alcohol) but is IMHO a pain. The matte black won't show that. I love the look and texture of this lighter; it's...

IM Corona Old Boy Father's Day Gift

Hi, Bradley! Yes, it's me; older, "stouter", grayer, and back around again after a long spell. I've had some health issues and haven't been on the forums much the last 18 months or so. I also have all but given up leather work. But it's still me. :puffy: I will tell him; he talks about you...

IM Corona Old Boy Father's Day Gift

My Father's Day gift arrived Thursday; I'm just getting around to posting it. Thus far I love it! I chose matte black because it won't look dirty so quickly like the chrome does. The heft and feel are great. I read they have made the finish 5 times more durable but it'll be "living" in a...

Presbyterian Blend. I can't say enough good about this stuff!

I'm not much on Latakia heavy blends. For me, SL is a perfect balance of all things an English blend ought to be.

    Buying Tobacco Online

I've ordered from them a couple of times and would definitely recommend them. Good selection and prices IMHO

    Pure Virginia With Light Topping?

I would say try Stokkebye Luxury Twist flake. It's a great tasting blend and a superior value IMHO.

Newer Kaywoodie Pipes Worth A Hoot?

I have a newer pot-shaped Saxon that I love. Slightly larger than a "Nosewarmer" but the bowl holds a good amount of tobacco making it a great take-along pipe. And is smokes like a champ!

Do IM Corona Lighters Really Need IM Corona Flints?

Thank you, gentlemen. It is good to know but I can just use my zippo flints with no worries. I know I need to use high quality butane; I use Xikar brand in my Xikar lighters now. Thanks for the information!

    I Somewhat Like Fills

I think I fall in the pit-over-fill group. That pink-putty just looks so out-of-place to me.

    Acrylic Solvent

Did you try acetone? I'd use it sparingly to start and try to stay on the "spots". Usually it'll soften it right up.

Do IM Corona Lighters Really Need IM Corona Flints?

So, after years of wanting an IM Corona Old Boy I used my Father's Day gift card to order one today. I see that IM Corona also makes flints; it seems they are softer than "regular" flints from my reading. But do I really need those special flints? I sure don't want to foul up my new lighter by...
