Vinyl Tubing Instead of Rubber Bits

I like the hear shrink tubing, too: it is thinner, much cheaper in the long run, easy to apply and remove, more comfortable, and still provides nice protection. As for saliva getting under it, I think if applied right it will be minimal, as organizedmadman said. If its a concern still I think...

    Lucite Stem Hole Repair

Thanks, guys. It's always fun. for me, to find and share a new idea/product to work with. @samcoffeeman I've had mixed success with different glues and "filling medium". I like Gorilla brand (original) super glue (its a rubber-added type of glue) mixed with powdered activated carbon. It sets...

2014- Not a Banner Year for Me

@mso489 Opinions vary on this but in my reading, which has been pretty extensive the last month, a diagnosis of "pre-diabetes" really mean "you are an early stage diabetic" and need to do everything a diabetic needs to do to minimize the impact of the progression of the disease and its nasty...

2014- Not a Banner Year for Me

Thanks for all of the encouraging words, gents' I appreciate them all. @agnosticpipe I'm trying to get more exercise but my CES limits how much and what I can do. My neurosurgeon advised me to go to Walmart, the grocery store, anyplace that has people nearby in case I have a fall, and that has...

Here are the before and after photos of the stem: And a picture of the bottle of accelerator: EDIT: He didn't want all of the minute scratches polished out and I obliged (considering the small reparation I received!).

Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bulls Eye Flake

Al off the PS flakes are good smokes and great values IMHO. I have some LBF I just finished off with a bit more just starting to age. Next up for me will be LTF, which has about a year on it now I believe. I'm out of LNF :-/

2014- Not a Banner Year for Me

Thank you, gents. I hope that know that I know why I was feeling so awful and having blurry vision and things I can take control of it. It sure is a lot to take in though, I gotta admit.

2014- Not a Banner Year for Me

So, I've been MIA again for a while, more health problems. I'll tell you, 2014 has been a not so hot year for me from the get-go! From the flu, to summer colds, multiple problems (and new pairs) with my braces, and a couple of spills have taken their toll on me. And to add to it if recently...

    Lucite Stem Hole Repair

A Facebook friend asked me if I could fix a hole in a Lucite stem. The pics didn't look bad, of course the hole was worse than the pics showed. But in the process I found an alternative to Stew-Mac's accelerator locally and it worked like a champ. The whole article is here, with photos and all...

    Pipe-picking Score: Three Kaywoodies

Good grief! I may have to think about letting it go - especially if the wife finds out. :crying:

    Pipe-picking Score: Three Kaywoodies

Well, I have the project all finished up - finally! Although I do reserve the right to go back and re-work the pipe if I so decide in the future. The full article and more photos are on RebornPipes blog if you are interested.

    Pipe-picking Score: Three Kaywoodies

So, I'm finally getting to work on these some. Here's where the restoration on the Regent's stem stand now: A long way to go but it's getting there! Remember it started like this:

    Three Restored Vintage Pipes

I prefer a more natural finish, too. But you're right: that last Stanwell is a loss so just don't waste anymore time on it and send it to me for proper disposal!

    Balkan Sobranie In Stock

I agree. They are more of a boutique blender, small batches, done by hand.

    Don't Be a Tool, Fool!

I really enjoyed that piece. As I said in the comments, I have several handmade gifts that I never take out of the house; they have meaning to me and I won't risk them being lost.

No Extra Charge - Filter Included

I like that prince a lot. I recently restored a VFQ and it seems like it's going to be a great smoker as well as a looker. Medico VFQ. Incidentally, mine came with a new filter! LOL

Medico VFQ- Saving an Old Pipe

That's interesting Ed. Are the ones you listed in general a good list of top down quality in Medicos? I had an old Frank I restored and ended up gifting away (wish I'd kept it) that was a great smoker and had a vulcanite stem. I imagine it was fairly old. Do you know anything about those?
