    Cob exorcism

You can coat the inside with powdered activated carbon and smoke it out in one bowl usually. Of course you'll want to tap out the extra carbon after you coat the bowl with it before smoking it. Many times the carbon will absorb the ghost enough to barely taste it if at all.

2014- Not a Banner Year for Me

Well, things have been swinging downward of late - my blood glucose level I mean. But it's gone from way too high to way too low! After having an average of near 400 for my sugar level, I have been fighting keeping it above a safe number the last two weeks. I accidentally realized that I was...

Parker's Ferrowood _ Help Dating Please

Thanks for the input and info. I do hope that Mike Reschke has some more info for us; I'm terribly intrigued by the little pipe! I enjoyed a bowl of C&D Three Friars in it this morning after shooting the new photo and making the post. I dig the little guy no matter, but more history always makes...

Parker's Ferrowood _ Help Dating Please

Okay, it may well be a "1" with a dot after it. But "1" doesn't make any sence does it?

Parker's Ferrowood _ Help Dating Please

misterlowercase, thank you. I'd dispute their "He-Man" name; its a group 1-2 IMHO! LOL I appreciate the link and info. I'll check in that number/letter and post an answer. It had only been smoked maybe twice when I got it and I know why: the shank was full of the blueish lacquer they covered...

Brian is to Thank for This Loose Stem Fix

After listening to Brian speak so much about the troubles the gap between the tenon and mortise can cause I have found yet another reason to stretch rather than squash a tenon to fix a loose stem: no change in the length of the tenon or size of the gap in the shank! I wrote more if you are...

    Dr Grabow Omega Facelift

I'm sorry I missed you, my friend. I was having a "blank brain" moment. And I enjoy your and everyone else's articles, too, and can hardly wait to see what new pipe or technique someone has come up with everytime a new article posts!

    Dr Grabow Omega Facelift

@Gary It was a fun project and certainly turned to "hum-drum" into something a bit snazzier! @cosmicfolklore I'm not the guy, that's Steve; it is his blog. I, along with our own Al, are contributors there, however, adding what we can, when we can. But I'm glad you enjoy the blog even if I'm...

2014- Not a Banner Year for Me

I forgot to add that I did a longer post, kinf of and About Me on the blog, answering many questions I'd not thought to address before. You can read it HERE.

    Cleaning a MM corncob

I use a pipe tool with a dull rounded tip blade to scrape the walls every few bowls; I don't want much of a cake in my cobs either. For the stems, I'll occasionally soak them in white distiller vinegar; that stuff takes out stains and odors from all types of plastics. And Brad's advice on the...
  15. gmwolford

I am new, just bought my first pipe, and few questions, thanks!

Welcome to the forums and the hobby! I agree with most of what's been said. Quality corncob pipes are great for beginners and old timers alike. Ideally, I think a pipe should rest, to dry out, one day/bowl smoked. So if you smoke the same pipe three times in one day it should rest fir three...

    Dr Grabow Omega Facelift

A few weeks back I was restoring a run of the mill Dr Grabow Omega when I decided to make it run of the mill. I beveled the damaged interior rim, re-drilled the draft hole, opened up the stem, and gave it a nice contrast stain. The full article and more photos are HERE if you're interested in...

    Need Stems Made for Stummels

I have the PME tenon tool and have no issues using it with a hand drill. Pipe Makers Emporium Tenon Tool: a review . Steve (rebornpipes.com) uses the PIMO one also without trouble in a hand drill. RebornPipes.com My point being a drill press may be handy but isn't a must.

2014- Not a Banner Year for Me

Thank you the well wishes and concern, my friend. I'm trying to make sure I do things right, so as to not cause anymore problems; the good Lord knows I'm full up in that area at this time! LOL. And thanks for your kind offer. I think I have a few to keep me busy but will holler if I'm wrong...

2014- Not a Banner Year for Me

I do need to loose weight! LOL I hope my reply didn't come across as "harsh" or anything; I certainly didn't intend it that way. I often for who/where knows about my other problem and I reckon I might accidentally be "short" at times in my answers. I apologize for that.

2014- Not a Banner Year for Me

Sorry, I should've been clearer. CES is short for Cauda Equina Syndrome. In my case, it left my legs useless from just below the knee down, requiring me to wear braces on both legs, and both legs are (mostly) numb. I also have chronic back pain and arthritis in my back and, basically, no disk...
