***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Enjoying some MacBaren Old Dark Fired Ready Rubbed in a Christ Morgan Bones bent egg. I did not like this blend the first time I tried it about 6 months ago, so I jarred it and let it sit. This time I let it dry for a couple of hours, and it's quite tasty! I can see why people love it.

The After Midnight Club Redux 2020

As usual, up after midnight again. Enjoying some MacBaren ODF RR in a Morgan Bones.

    Hello from Rainy Oregon!

Welcome from Tucson, AZ! I grew up in PDX, in NoPo right off of Rosa Parks Way (though it was named Portland Blvd when I was growing up). Left 20 years ago to go off to college in the midwest and haven't returned, except for a 5 month stint living in an awesome apartment on NW 21st, although I...

Trustworthy Tobacco Review Co: All Things Gawith & Hoggarth

I always thought GH and Co blends were some of the best out there. How wrong I was! Thank you for setting me right. I was clearly headed down a very, very dark, menthol soaked path. It also makes me wonder if Bosun Cut Plug is just menthol flavored tobacco that has been soaked in Boson...

Best Way to Clean a Pipe

Generally, in between smokes, I will clean the stem and stummel with two pipe cleaners. First, I take a bristle cleaner and run it through the stem. Then each end gets stuffed in the mortise with a brief scrub. Then I fold the pipe cleaner in half, and use it to clean the inside of the...

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Enjoying some GL Pease Union Square in an HS Studio bent pot.

Simply Red and Rhythm and Blues

I'm not sure if this (and simply red) are released on April 1st like Rugaru (is that the spelling? ;)). The last time I bought Simply Red, it was from a June release, and I know that R and B was released at the same time because I wanted it as well but waited too long before ordering and it...

Jim's Watch City Double Barrel Christmas 2020 Review.

Even better. I love a boozy tobacco forward blend.

Jim's Watch City Double Barrel Christmas 2020 Review.

Got 4 oz myself. I’m not much of an aro smoker but I do like a boozy blend, and literally everything I’ve had that Ernie has blended has been excellent.

    Stick with It

This right here. There are a number of blends that I have not liked on the first smoke but after coming back to them with better technique under my belt I have enjoyed them. This is also how you end up with 100 jars and a storage "problem." I do not speak from experience.

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Enjoying some Cornell and Diehl XX Flake Dark in a Sasieni two dot 1/8 bent billiard. This stuff has aged nicely in the past 10 months since release!

    Stick with It

My experience was the same, only I was pretty much exclusively an English smoker before. I remember that first bowl of a VaPer during which I could taste all the flavors. The blend was match Victoria, and it was like a symphony in my mouth. You're about to go down an awesome journey of flavor...

    Made Me Laugh

I was smoking a bowl outside on my patio last night late, here in Tucson. I put on long johns, jeans, a wool stocking cap, and three layers on top including a light down jacket. Afterwards, I went inside and checked the temp. 64 F. My transition to desert rat is complete. The first...

    Mixing Store Bought Blends

I really enjoy mixing Dark Bird's Eye with sweeter Burley mixtures such as Pegasus and Watch City Slices. Provides a great extra kick and the tobaccos really complement each other.

How Long Have You Been Smoking A Pipe ?

I'm 40. Cigars off and on since I was 15, bought a pipe when I was 29, smoked it even more occasionally than the cigars (couple of times a year), then became an (almost) every day pipe smoker about 18 months ago.

The After Midnight Club Redux 2020

Most nights, I have an after midnight smoke after the wife goes to bed. Good quiet, "me" time. Currently enjoying some Le Petit Robin in an Upshall Billiard.

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Enjoying a bowl of Tabac Manil Le Petit Robin in a James Upshall Tilshead straight billiard. I got a small sample of this blend as part of a trade with @snowhill a while back, and I'm just getting around to trying it tonight. Wow! This is good stuff! Getting a lot of sweet hay from the Va...

Jim's Watch City Double Barrel Christmas 2020 Review.

My guess is that the name comes from curing the Va's in aged rum and curing the Burley in aged Bourbon, hence instead of "barrel-aged" it's "double-barrel aged." Thanks for the review, Jim! This one sounds excellent as well. Gonna be hard to resist picking up a few oz.

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Having a bowl of Comoy's Cask #4 in a MM General while working on a job application and having a coffee on the patio. I ordered a few oz of this a while back to age, and in the meantime Ashdigger blessed me with a sample from 2014, which I'm enjoying today. Tastes great with 6 yrs of age!

    The (Un)Official Secret Santa 2020!

Yep, that Santa is always getting into hijinks! Breaking and entering. Not following speed limits. I hear he’s a real judgmental SOB as well! C’mon Santa, you know that “naughty” and “nice” are just social constructs and subject to moral relativism! ?
