***What Are You Smoking, Nov. 2024?***

Its pretty good tobacco, different. I would recommend you trying some. there's a learning curve though. Comes completely bone dry, at least you're not paying for water! Then you have to pack it tighter than you would ever think, I mean cram it down in the bowl after it's filled with all your...

    Plastic for Storing Tobacco?

Canning jars are pretty inexpensive and work great. I wouldn't use plastic containers, never seem to seal like jars do. I vacuum seal on occasion and it seems to work pretty well.

    Famous Historical Pipe Smokers

Fr. Emil Kapaun, Catholic priest with his pipe that got the mouthpiece shot off in Korea. Died in 1951 in prison camp. Talk about a great guy!!

    Aged Mac Baren Plumcake

Smoke it and enjoy it! Should be great now. I really enjoyed that blend in the late 80's.

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

Couple 12 ga slugs about half way up may do the trick? Crude way of doing it though.

    Do You Reuse Mason Jars?

Yeah, that's the biggest problem with pipe smoking.....emptying too many jars😉 It gets costly to keep having to refill them. Yes, empty them before refilling them with a different tobacco, unless you don't mind cross blending. A little bit of some tobacco will really change others added to it.

    Do You Reuse Mason Jars?

I reuse them all the time. Wipe them out with a paper towel seems to remove odor of last tobacco. I make sure no tobacco is on the rim of the jar before I close it. Once tobacco is on the rim and resealed it seems very difficult to remove it from the rubber seal. If need be, toss the lid, get a...

    Antique tamper?

Interesting, I don't believe it's a pipe tool though. Is there any engraving on the flat end? Nut cracker? Used for sealing wax? Doctor's tool? Seems older than the 70's After looking a bit on line, I'd agree with some others, a muddler, maybe with a ice pick on the hammer end.

    Pipe burnt ?

If it's a new piece I'd return it. Once you wipe it with Acetone it's yours. That's pretty serious solvent for a pipe.

Ascorti Business Pipe of the Year 2004

It's not the bending of the mouthpiece but the drilling of the air way,as you mentioned ,that's a bit tricky in a Oom Paul. If they use a large diameter mortise it makes it a bit easier though. The right amount of heat and taking your time, the air way won't collapse while bending the mouthpiece.

    Gold

FWIW, our stocks and paper money could very well be worth nothing one day. Gold and silver may not increase as we'd like but they'll NEVER be worth nothing. Silver will double in value before gold. Just my 2¢
