Acquired BBB Pipe Without a Stem......

How utterly unexpected for a modern company! I'd love the contact information as well please!

    Pesse Canoe?

I'd love to try these, and would be happy to arrange a group purchase if a tobacconist, in Turkey perhaps, would be willing to ship to the United States.

    Trapping Squirrels?

I tried this one first and it turns out that a strong squirrel can start to jam the door upward. Once the door is warped the trap won't spring again as the mechanism requires that the door and lock (that wire bracing against the door) is perfectly level and perpendicular. I scrapped it and...

    Trapping Squirrels?

I spent all summer trapping the squirrels that were chewing into my garbage cans. The wire traps with the drop down doors at Amazon work great. I began by writing numbers on their haunches to identify them to see if any were returning. They were. They don't care that they've been caught. I...

A Visit to Patagonia Pipes Shop in Buenos Aires

Gerardo Benz the proprietor, if I am not mistaken.

Price of Amber Stems in 1901

I feel we're on the verge of an "amber-stemmed pipe-to-Big Mac™" conversion factor that can account for inflation, devaluation and currency exchange rates. Here I've found an account of what a working class family will have paid for various expenses in 1901 London. About three-quarters down...

Price of Amber Stems in 1901

According to the converter at the National Archives 12/6 would've been equivalent to £49 ($62.30 USD) at 2017 valuation. Day's wage it says, give or take. https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/currency-converter/#currency-result Another converter gives a slightly higher estimate, but in the same...

    Stonehaven Replacement

I like Irish Flake, which is a topped Virginia-Burley flake that I find similar enough to Stonehaven (which is also, incidentally, a topped Virginia-Burley flake).

Tobacco Flavoring for Smoking Products: Leffingwell, 1972

It's interesting you mention Gawith-Hoggarth because I have a jar of GH Latakia as well, and it is *real* (what I consider to be real, anyway) Latakia. There are other mixtures that are readily available here in the USA that use a jet-black, large ribbon leaf with a very forward and...

Tobacco Flavoring for Smoking Products: Leffingwell, 1972

Just as there is Perique that is "artificially derived" (see Three Nuns recipe elsewhere on this forum) there is also "artificially derived" Latakia (see Latakia flavor above). I remember a vigorous discussion on another forum with individuals emphatically denying the existence of such a thing.

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

I think these photos may have been the GBD set he ("The Mitre") attempted to repair. At least one of the pipes in the set was smokeable. I'm glad that these pipes aren't one-of-a-kind rarities, in any case. Perhaps a ventilated bowl gives a cooler smoke, who knows?! ;)

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

This 'family-era' Ben Wade---with minor blemish----veritably slipped through the pipe community's fingers. Bidding started at only £155 ($197.55). Deals like this do occasionally go unnoticed. https://www.ebay.com/itm/195830174332

Chicago Pipe Show - Show Us Your Pics!

I reckon they're all required to smoke the same pipe, but I've no doubt you'd win hands down in a clay showdown, my friend!

    Pipe Tobacco Heartbreak

It's a matter of personal choice, I suppose. But if it's worth creating a thread about "heartbreak" then I'd say it meets the threshold for following up with actual examination under a microscope. There are lots of "mold or plume" threads here and were it not for further inspection lots of...

    Pipe Tobacco Heartbreak

As a scientist I'd say that there is a good chance that those white fluffy specks are in fact salt crystal blooms, the product of sublimation. The crystals of some salts are fluffy and not "crystal-like" at all. Mold and fungi tend to like to grow on organic substrate (though, not always) and...

    British pipes. —— a Hypothetical

Sticking with a brand, to the exclusion of others, before experiencing for ones self firsthand the qualities of each, and then proceeding to build an entire collection... I'd say it's a bit myopic.

    Mcclelland 5125 & Draper 2008 In Stock?

This. Posting anything desirable and all but unobtainable online virtually guarantees it'll get completely bought out almost instantly. Heck, there are bots and lurkers that scour the site just looking for info like this.

15% off Mac Baren Tins @ SP

I think it's the HH line that's cheaper. I was looking at Burley Flake.
