Is There a Name for This Ivory Smoking Pipe?

WHAT!!! I feel like a dope....and it's not the first time either. So really...cigarette holder, hash pipe, sex aid...what is it? :))) Frank NYC

Is There a Name for This Ivory Smoking Pipe?

Are you sure it's a pipe, or not a fancy cigarette holder of some sort? An ivory tusk would probably burn and crack from heat, and most certainly would stink when burned by the hot tobacco. I'm probably wrong, and curious to read the answers. Frank NYC Did a quick search. If there is a brass...

    Memories of Clay Pipes

Did a little digging around at the Lepeltier website and other places. Apparently, ceramic/clay pipes can really heat up, and become difficult, if not impossible, to hold. Churchwarden length stems, etc, were a necessary requirement because of this heat factor. Lepeltier pipes have a...

    All I taste is ash...

Dip the tips of your pipe-cleaners in high-proof drinking spirits like Rum, Brandy, or Rum Extract -which can be bought in the Baking Section of any large super market. Stale dottle, saliva deposits, and tarry fouling trapped in a stem, or mortise can taint your pipe. Start with a freshened...

    Cigar Leaf Blends

So far, I loved reading through all the comments and suggestions for tobacco blends. I tend to not like an overpowering Latakia component, and I'm leery about trying out cigar-leaf blends that are too Lat-forward. This proviso eliminates many blends. I just ordered a sample size of "Storm...

What Do You Carry Your Pipe Tobacco In?

What do I carry my pipe tobacco in?...... A small, (approx. 3" X 5") heavy duty, zip-lock....the size that will fit into a shirt/jacket pocket. I can fit tobacco, spiraled pipe cleaners, and a wooden pipe-nail/tamper in with enough tobacco, and still have a small, not bulky, flat package...

    The Art of Manliness

@ sablebrush52.... I just did a perfect, "spit-take" while drinking my morning coffee. Hilarious comments. Thanks....you made my day start with an out loud, laugh. ***************************************************************************** Interesting article. Some of these...

    Pipe Holder in Vehicle?

Maybe self-sticking Velcro dots/squares -one on the pipe, and one on a car surface.... might help? Stick the pipe down and then peel it off the stationary/mounted dot. Just speculating. Frank NYC

    Pipe Cleaners & "Quality"....Who Cares?

balkisobrains..... Not happy to read this. Now, I have to buy a good, flush-cut, wire nipper. Scissors are no good for cutting pipe-cleaner tips. Don't ask how I know this. Thanks. Frank NYC

    Memories of Clay Pipes

I have never smoked owned collected a clay pipe. So what follows is just speculation: I have always wondered why clay has not been used as a medium for making higher-priced pipes that would compete with Meerschaum. When I see a Meerschaum pipe, I think "high-class, plaster". BTW, I never...

    Pipe Cleaners & "Quality"....Who Cares?

I could deal with the absorption, fuzzy lint, and other "quality" differences, but I can't deal the slight burrs, or the tiny, bent-wire tips on the ends of too many of pipe-cleaners. I have found these burrs on many brands of PCs. When I ran these PCs down the pipe-stems I could feel the tip...

    "Wormwood" Rustication

Interesting surface treatment. Looks like it was carved with a burr, in an open, random, pattern of tracks, and dents, of varying depths, etc. It's different. Enjoy your pipe....that's all that really matters. Frank NYC

A Latakia Love Story, What`s Yours?

My pipe-smoking adventures, started back in 1966 with "Mixture No. 79", and "Sugar Barrel". Those old-timey, OTC blends were all I could buy, and all I knew. Struggled through some bad smokes, for years, and then, gave up the pipe. Many years past by, and I decided that I wanted to smoke my...

    Show Off Your Sandblasts Here

Halfy... Smoke, ans enjoy that Dittmar for a looooong time, and, in good health! It's a beauty!! Ditto on snore-inducing, straight-grains. For me, a nice blast/rusticated pipe scratches my itch. Thanks, Frank NYC

    English Aromatic

Try mixing in some aromatic blend into a good English blend. Start with what English you like, and gradually add the aromatic blend that you like....5-parts English to 1-part aromatic. Write down the proportions...create your own personal mixture. The possibilities are endless. But, Lane...
