Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

I did not expect that outcome, and I am used to seeing those fetch high prices.

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

I think this Claret may have drawn so much because of the shape. They may also happen to be thin on the ground right now. I do not usually follow these auctions, but I recall seeing them going for $75 or less more often than not.

    Pipes With a Restrictive Draw

Same here. Keeping a pipe nail and a Roger’s tamper tool is essential to my strategy. The pipe nail suffices most of the time, but sometimes I want the Rogers, especially if tobacco has fallen too far into the “hole” of a Falcon bowl. The pick can help with that or a too-tight packed bowl of...

    Need Help Dating Charatan Pipe.

The stem logo may be the clue that most clearly narrows the dating. The C does not enter the P. According to Fabio Ferrara, that dates your pipe to as early as 1980, but probably later.

    Hello Medico collectors

Welcome from a similar collector (though predominantly a KB&B enthusiast) in NW MO.

Kaywoodie Kohinoor Off The Catalog Page

It went unsold longer than I expected. Truth be told, I did what I, at least halfheartedly, hoped to avoid. I almost always steer clear of restored pipes, especially pipes that have been refinished and given a salt-alcohol treatment. My plan was to wait 72 hours before making an offer. I...

Kaywoodie Kohinoor Off The Catalog Page

Geez, *more not “kore”. Why does autocorrect never correct, but only create new errors? Where is the Kaywoodie thread? I recalled there being one before my hiatus from the forums, but I couldn’t find it.

New Product From Brigham of Real Interest

That’s strange. I have never gotten a varnish taste from a new Falcon bowl, regardless of the finish type. Also, the Brigham Rock Maple Insert is an old innovation. That said, Brigham is often overlooked, despite their good invention. As a result, I remember also having your reaction: this...

Kaywoodie Kohinoor Off The Catalog Page

KB&B’s Kohinoor shape is probably the rarest shape the company ever produced. I had a rough Yello Bole stummel in this shape. I gave it to a friend in the GKCPC who is a far kore qualified collector of the brand. It was probably a white elephant gift now that I think of it. I never expected...

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

Fresh Sutliff Match Balkan Sobranie Original Smoking Mixture in a bent billiard meerschaum with lattice carving. The description at retailers may say there is still Yenidje in the mix, but the Queen of Tobaccos is missing and missed.

If moron was a term good enough for Gene Wilder to use, it is good enough for the rest of us. I find I employ it most while talking about politicians or fellow motorists.

More dirty work in the heat. Ennerdale Flake in a Dr. Grabow CDL is keeping me company. I threw a Savinelli balsa filter in the pipe because Ennerdale can be a little bitey. The wind cap is also helping keep the burn cool this breezy and gusty afternoon.

That stem practically cries out for chocolate…or cookies…I’m not sure whether to smoke the pipe or try to drink the stem.

Gawith Hoggarth Black Cherry Twist spiced with perique in a Missouri Meerschaum Eaton. The weather is almost too hot to smoke this while working outside. An iced tea of half Harney’s Hibernian and half Harney’s Lapsang Souchong is taking the edge off.

That’s a beauty! I love Musico pipes. Thank goodness they don’t cost what they are worth.

Busy day, but opportunities to smoke, too. Gawith Hoggarth Bosun Cut Plug, Kendal Dark, and Ennerdale Flake have taken their turns in cobs and a Falcon.

D&R Three Sails in a Missouri Meerschaum Morgan. It may be considered a bargain basement tobacco, but it is the only straight Virginia I still like to smoke.

    GLP Must Have Blends

I do not cellar with aging in mind, but I do cellar as a hedge against what I like disappearing or changing. I am very reluctant to cellar something I know has an above average chance of spoiling.
