I have been a collector of Linkman and Grabow for ten years when I saw a picture of a Medico Jet, just like the one I smoked in college. After buying another I got interested in Medico. I would love to learn more about them and would love to learn from several Medico collectors.

I have been trying to find out if Medico brand pipes are still being manufactured. I know they have been sold several times. Maybe the are outsourced overseas some where. Any information would be nice.

FurCoat: Thanks for your reply. I think I like the history of the Company and love reading about it. I was introduced to TapaTalk and the Dr Grabow Linkman forum. Here is a bunch of guys 20 to 30 years ago trying to figure out information to Linkman and Grabow. It was all guess work and some of it was good and some was bad, but slowly over the years it started to get fine-tuned. This site has other collectors of Linkman and Grabow adding new information all the time. Time is fickle and these collectors and the Grabow employees are dying and it is up to the younger collectors to take their place. I was lucky enough to find a person that has been collecting all brands for 50 years. He was selling his life long collecting of pipes and he took me under this wing and taught me a lot about Linkman & Grabow. He also gave me first dibs on buying his Linkman and Grabow pipes. He made sure I got a good selection of pipes that showed the history of both companies. As a collector you know you can't buy them all and now 2 year later I should have gotten a loan as I passed up some of his rarest higher priced pipes. I would like to hear about your Linkman and Grabow collection. Maybe we can share new information. Dave

Actually, according to Pipedia, while they started in the early 1930's, Medico pipes are still being produced.

This brand has a special place in my heart, as it was the first pipe that I was ever exposed to. My dad smoked one that he bought in the early fifties. He passed away back in 2014 and I found the pipe and had it restored. Here is a picture:


Ironically, I just bought a Medico Medalist estate pipe that is en route to me. Here is a picture of what it looks like:


Note the square bowl. Can't wait to get it.
