    It is difficult at best and both pipes mentioned in this thread are of low value. Nothing wrong with that of course, but the information finders and keepers of historical data, aren't documenting or scouring the net for a penny return.

    I fixed on of those years ago. Mine ended up with a large patch to repair a hole in the stem, (not the manufactured version of a hole on some of them). This one came out way better than mine did. I couldn't tell if the stem was all briar or not, my guess is maybe some sort of pressed briar...

    "I bought this Kaywoodie "500" model 42 back in college when I was first starting out. I wish I had the Grabow I freight trained Captain Black with from college. The pipe was a worthless poc but the pipe was my history. That is why I was interested.
