    Separated Tenon

I've used that particular glue from Starbond and it has worked fairly well. It takes quite a while to dry (I leave it for a full day) and usually needs more than one round of application. I've not tried using an accelerator, but that might greatly shorten the dry time. I use a file, then 400...

Show Off Your Meerschaum Pipes Here!

I'm a neophyte re. meerschaums. I got this pipe as part of a lot, and I'm curious about several things: 1. Is the stem likely also meerschaum? 2. Is the tenon bone? 3. What might the ballpark date be (e.g. first half of 20th century, etc)? I'll appreciate any help you all can give.

    First restoration

Looks very nice. I like the way the rim cleaned up.

Refreshing the logo on this Savinelli Autograph stem

Quite a nice result! If my current attempt with white out fails this looks like a good possibility.

    Vulcanite Composition

I had not realized how direct sunlight can affect vulcanite stems. Good to know.

    Screw in bulldog stem problem

I think the suggestion is to use a paper hole reinforcer. Slip it over the tenon and it will cause the stem to tighten sooner. Search for "paper hole reinforcers" if you're not familiar with these little jobbies.

A Tobacco Storage Dream Come True

Very nice! This is just the sort of thing that adds culture/depth/solidity/richness to our enjoyment of pipes and pipe tobaccos.

    Your Favorite Pipes?

My go-to pipe is this early Custom-Bilt. The stem has been shorted (and is perhaps a replacement) and there's a hole near the bit that I need to repair, but I sure enjoy it.

    Smoking Room Ventilation

I like it! And the low noise level is quite significant. Great idea.

    Shipping Costs for Pipes

I'm an occasional pipe seller (I suppose I've sold around 70 pipes), and my cost for USPS first class package (now I think they call it "lightweight trackable") is around $4.50. When I list pipes, I always offer free shipping and price the pipe accordingly.

Pipe Smoking Social Meaning…If There Is One

I, too, mostly smoke at home or at the home's of friends. Looking around in public I see occasional cigarette smokers, but almost never a pipe or cigar smoker. I assume, without much evidence, that tobacco use is really looked down on by most people for presumed health reasons.

That's a loss. Buying online is an option, but there's nothing like a nice brick and mortar. Oh, and welcome from Kansas City.
