How Can I Repair Chips on a Peterson Ebony?

Very informative article. Stain and Danish oil sound like a possibility, although I think it would be difficult to get it smoothed and polished such as to blend with the rest of the finish. THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR IMPUT! At this point I'm inclined to either use a magic marker or go the stain...

How Can I Repair Chips on a Peterson Ebony?

I had wondered what process was used to produce the finish. Nice to know. Thanks.

How Can I Repair Chips on a Peterson Ebony?

It is the varnish that is chipped, not the wood.

How Can I Repair Chips on a Peterson Ebony?

Title edited for caps. Please read Rule. I recently purchased this Sherlock Holmes with the ebony finish. How might I go about repairing the chips in the finish?

    Help me on Vulcanite Restoration

Your comment got me thinking. I'm wanting to pass along to my grandson the double-barrel 20 gauge Crescent Fire Arms shotgun my grandfather gave me. It is a hammerlock, perhaps made in 1920, and the picture below gives the serial number. My question for you is if I should take just take the...

    New Guy Intro

Welcome from Kansas City. I have a room air filter that I run in my study when I smoke; that keeps my wife happy. By the next day, almost no hint of tobacco aroma remains in the study. Enjoy the forum!

    Filling Bite Marks on Stems

This sounds promising. I also saw the bur bit suggestion in the video, and it makes sense. I agree with those that have said that the super glue is really hard and I can see that it could flake or crack. Since I refurbish some pipes to resell, I don't want the stem to be unsatisfactory. So...

    Filling Bite Marks on Stems

How did this work for you? (I'm trying to talk myself into spending the extra on the G-Flex and the pigment.)

    Filling Bite Marks on Stems

I played from 5th grade through college, yet it never dawned on me till you said this that the mouthpieces were vulcanite. Fascinating! I didn't start smoking a pipe until about 10 years ago, long after I'd quite playing sax.

    Filling Bite Marks on Stems

I have the same experience. Even after micromesh I can usually see a very fine line around the edge of the area to which I applied the black super glue.

    Newbie from Central PA

Greetings from Kansas City! That's one thing I really enjoy about pipes; the tobacco is relatively inexpensive because a tin lasts through a good number of smokes.
