While I haven't tried their versions of Prince Albert or Carter, I have to put in a plug for Milan Tobacconists.
I don't see their blends mentioned very often but the ones I personally have tried are terrific. I discovered this old time tobacconist a number of years ago when I was in Roanoke...
You aren't particularly limited if you include all the terrific American-made pipes from WDC, Kaywoodie, Missouri Meerschaum, Dr. Grabow, Marxman, & a multitude of others, plus many, many artisan American carvers...
From The Country Squire website:
"In Collaboration with James Ravenwood of The Briar Fellowship comes the combining forces of his Swiftcurrent Lake & our very own Cowboy Coffee. A blend composed of Sweet Virginias, Burley, Dark Fired Kentucky, and Cavendish. A mixture tailor made for the...

The "codger blends" are a great starting place, but many of them have discontinued pouches.
I'd recommend Captain Black Original (White) - aka Lane RLP-6. Readily available. There's a reason it's apparently the number one pipe tobacco sold in the USA. No prep needed. Won't bite like many VA...
I used to use an herb grinder to prepare flakes etc. but recently I splurged for a rechargeable grinder. Break up a couple flakes, drop it in, press down for 2 seconds, & the tobacco is ready to go!
I bought one of the Shannon Airport Irish Souvenir pipes on eBay in 2007 but wound up selling it this past February while "thinning the herd" to reduce the size of my humble collection.
It had the BPL stamping. According to pipedia.org BPL "stood for Briar Pipes Limited, was a Dublin company...
The recent thread from @mikecronis about Best Peach aromatic inspired me to dig this 2003 tin of McClelland Pal O' Mine out of the cellar:
Still delicious after all these years!
I rummaged through the cellar & came up with a lone tin of 2003 McClelland Pal O' Mine, a peach flavored Cavendish/Burley blend.
Got a nice aroma of peach in the tin note. The tobacco was in perfect shape with just the right amount of moisture. Burned beautifully & has a wonderful room note...
Uhle's Pride O' Wisconsin blend is flavored with peach brandy, & like all Uhle blends, is worth a try.
I don't get very much peach flavor smoking it though...
Recently, I was checking on some old tins of W.Ø. Larson Old Belt Ready Rubbed Virginia from 2005.
I touched the lid on one of the tins & the lid flew off! Revealed underneath that lid was a significantly bulging but otherwise intact foil cover.
As I popped the aluminum cover with my...
Opened my last tin of A&C Petersen Caledonian Virginia Flake from 2002, a mild but delicious straight Virginia long out of production.
I definitely agree with Pipestud's review from tobaccoreviews.com:
"A very nice and gentle Virginia flake that has a little strength and a lot of flavor...
Just finished a couple ounces of 2 new-to-me The Country Squire tobaccos & wanted to post my impressions since I'm no good at any formal review.
Bill's Blend
The Country Squire website lists Bill's Blend as "a sweet aromatic featuring confectionary notes of vanilla and marshmallow. The room...
