Original. "Looking to Buy a Few Quality Aromatic Tobaccos, Rum, Vanilla, Burbon, Need Some Recommendations, The Good Stuff!"

It's been a good while since I picked up any aromatics to smoke. I have enjoyed some of them in the past. I used to enjoy Rum, Vanilla, whiskey/Bourbon and a few others. I am now looking for suggestions on what are some quality aromatic tobaccos. The Good Stuff! Thanks!

I have been enjoying East India Trading Company Cellar Reserve. Sweet Virginia, Nutty Burly, and soft black cavendish, with notes of rum, vanilla, and caramel. They say they add a little Louisiana Perique. I think it is a pretty mild tobacco, but you can really taste the rum and vanilla.

Mac Baren Vanilla Flake and Roll Cake are both top notch. Tobacco flavor with a vanilla top note. Bob's Chocolate Flake is another good one. It's got a lot of flavors going on and tastes like tobacco.

If you are interested in more traditional American aromatics, Sutliff makes a lot of good ones. Their Bourbon Whiskey sold under the Super Value brand is solid and inexpensive.

Just be wary that tastes do differ greatly - “one man’s meat ………etc”

When I got back to pipes a few years ago, I diligently looked at tasting notes on Tobacco Reviews and SmokingPipes before buying a few tins.
I bought a couple of highly rated aromatics which I tossed after trying a couple of times - just couldn’t finish the bowl !

I won’t name them as I’m sure there are those who love those same blends.
On the other hand, I do like (that much maligned and often panned) Mixture 79 😁

I smoked 1Q and Captain Black White for 20 yrs, never tired of either. Put away the pipes in 2004 and just today bought three new pipes and bought an ounce of Super Value Bourbon Whiskey to try and was pleased with the taste and my wife approved the room note. The SV purchase was because 1Q is no longer sold in my area and it was recommended by HotSpot Cigars and Coffee FWB.

I prefer my “flavored” aros to be built on very good tobaccos, and really like very few (for some reason I don’t hold Samuel Gawith’s 1792/Cob Plug, or GH&Co’s Cherry or Maple Twists in the typical “aro” category, if you consider such as “aros” they’re the top of my list and I’m an aro fool!

Dan Tobacco’s Devil’s Holiday, Sweet Vanilla Honeydew; GH&Co Bob’s Chocolate Flake and a few of their Lakelands; Sam Gawith Firedance Flake; Boswell’s Honey Roast; C&D John Marr; the only Lane that I really like-Lane Black Raspberry;and Sutliff SPS-22 and Barbados Plantation.
If it’s booze you like, GLP Windjammer and Navigator are great.
