I've always been under the impression that it's mainly Virginia dominant blends that age well, burley definitely don't, all due to the sugar content in the leaf. 1950's Peterson House Pipe Restoration
An aluminum chimney probably won't fit the threading of the bone, just use the bone, don't tighten it down and it'll be fine. They can seize so keep it just at the point of threaded all the way in.- Jon C.P.G.

Personally I wouldn't trust the seller again, sometimes the difference in a dozen degrees of bend in a shank can determine wether I would want a pipe or not, now with meerschaum if I spotted something that looked like it would color nicely or had thicker chamber walls and I didnt get that exact...- Jon C.P.G.

Smoking to the Bottom of the Bowl.
Being someone who smokes Peterson system pipes 90% of the time and of those smokes I smoke 1792 flake at least 65% of the time these days in specific systems and meerschaums, I will throw my two cents out there and say smoking to the bottom is over rated. Peterson Pipe "Circle"

Thanks, it also has a hidden pick inside 😆 the tamper is made of morta and the head is briar. Got it from a guy who makes tampers on etsy. I love how it's worked to even have the tiny nubs as a proper blackthorn shillelagh would have from the thorns being cut off.- Jon C.P.G.

Help Identify a Peterson System Pipe
I could be wrong because I've never owned one but it could be a wellington stem, ive seen many pictures and discussions on them and they made pipes that were very close to peterson systems in looks but don't think they had the p lips.- Jon C.P.G.

Help Identify a Peterson System Pipe
It's a Peterson 1890-1990 Commemorative patent system Oom Paul without the original stem. In 1990 peterson did a run of this shape and another, a straight Billiard System. The old threading from the 70s wont fit the modern chimneys, they're slightly different. I just tried the chimney from a new acrylic stem deluxe in my 76 4s deluxe and it is a no go and I wasn't about to try force it. Might be best off to contact someone who can machine one from aluminum and...- Jon C.P.G.
