    Peterson Plateau Pipes Just Dropped

There were sixty or so of these pipes available when I made this post; there are eight now, all Rua. I'll say this, every one of them in this bunch has a fantastic blast. And these are large pieces of briar. I got a Rua last time they came around and it's easily the biggest pipe I own--larger...

    Peterson Plateau Pipes Just Dropped

I purchased a Rua the last time they dropped and it is larger than my house pipe in every way. Got an Iora this time.

    Peterson Plateau Pipes Just Dropped

Looks like a fair amount of Rua and Iora plateaus just dropped on SmokingPipes. Not sure if they are anywhere else. There were supposed to be Supreme's, too, but either they sold before they posted them online or they went ultra quick.

    Cob>Briar

I keep a couple cobs for aromatics, but otherwise I prefer briar and meerschaum. Cobs always have too small a bowl for my taste and tobacco loves to get stuck in the bottom. They also feel quite cheap to me and I'm always expecting the stem/shaft to come unglued. These days I buy a Morgan...

Best Blend of 2024: The Nominations Phase

GL Pease Horizons came out this past June. I, too, thought this was about this year's tobacco releases. I guess it's an "all time best" kinda deal? That's a helluva lot of tobacco blends.

Best Blend of 2024: The Nominations Phase

I'm already confused. You mean brand new blends, right? I'm already seeing old blends here. My nomination: GL Pease Horizons

HU Tobacco Coming to the States

Yeah, Zulu is my favorite from HU for sure. You'd probably also like Indaba and Khoisaan, too. The African line stuff is my favorite by them. Director's Cut is quality stuff, but didn't taste that interesting or new to me.

Would you keep an ugly pipe that smokes really well?

I have quite a few pipes that others would say are ugly, but I love. Specifically, the Seville pipes that look like they have tentacle suction cups on the bowl. Got one as a joke while saving to get a Northern Briars Sea Urchin and ended up loving it. I have the NB now, but also picked up...

Jim's Sutliff Cringle Flake (Holiday Edition 2024) Review.

They still have it at Country Squire.

If somebody sold it to SmokingPipes then...maybe? :ROFLMAO:

Sutliff Silver Quarter in this lovely Wessex bulldog I got from SmokingPipes estates.

    Dedicated Pipes

I have a basic system: Cobs for aro's, Bones pipes for Lakelands, and briars/meers for everything else. Only two pipes are reserved for specific blends; I have a Bones Calabash that I always smoke 1792 in and a Rattray's olive wood Dublin that is for LJ Peretti's Oriental #40.

Margate. Isn’t It the Cats Meow!

Margate/Pembroke and Dorchester are my faves by Esoterica. Everything I've had has been great, but these just hit right every smoke.

HU Tobacco Coming to the States

Agree 100%! Just grabbed some more of my beloved Zulu, as well as Louisiana Broken, today.

HU Tobacco Coming to the States

But they ARE the same blends that are offered there... You basically returned them because they were put in a tin here instead of there? Ok.

Enjoying this small Baraccini Devil/Ball with some Innsmouth. Such a good blend (VaPer with Oriental and Cavendish).

    Looking for a New Knife

I think a straight forward Opinel is hard to beat. Sharp as a razor and super reliable. Also a good price. I either carry one of these or a straight razor style Gerber most days.

HU Tobacco Coming to the States

Maybe just bad luck? I got three tins from SP and three from Boswell's, none were beat up or anything. Night Owl is fantastic!

STG closes Mac Baren and Sutliff

I'm betting we just get a scaled back version of the MacB/Sutliff portfolios. The ones who will suffer will be the tobacconists who produce their own blends based on bulk/raw tobacco purchases from them. I'm more worried of losing LJ Peretti blends than I am of anything Sutliff related.
