***What Are You Smoking, April 2024?***

First time trying a Fribourg & Treyer blend: 34th Mixture. Really liking it so far in this Caminetto Green Briar. Any other F&T blends I should look out for?

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

I was shopping for an Ashton and saw this interesting "Achievement" model. Dropped what I thought was a low ball bid and ended up with it. Guess I don't have to shop for an Ashton now... https://www.ebay.com/itm/335317720601

    Jim's C&D Toscano Maestro Reviews.

I've been enjoying these blends, though I'm a big Toscano fan. I can definitely say that this tobacco does, indeed, taste like Toscano cheroots. All three are good, but Allegro is the best rounded IMO.

Show Off Your Northern Briars Here!

I posted a lovely NB Dublin recently in the monthly "what are you smoking" thread, so I'll post this one here instead. Sweet little bulldog that smokes like a dream.

***What Are You Smoking, March 2024?***

Breaking in this NOS Gepetto with some Davidoff English Mixture. Strange tobacco to be sure--an English with burley, perique, and little latakia--but still tasty with coffee in the morning.

How Often Do You Smoke a Pipe?

Usually 1-2 bowls a day, one in the morning and one at night, though I can also go stretches without piping at all. Especially if I'm traveling.

***What Are You Smoking, March 2024?***

I've been working my way through some of this Kendal flake (scented) in my lovely early 80's Dunhill Cumberland. After years of thinking Bosun and Conniston were my faves from Gawith, I've come to realize Kendal flake is what I seem to enjoy the most from them. Just a well rounded, delicious...

***What Are You Smoking, March 2024?***

Still breaking in this Dublin by Northern Briars with From Beyond. Also (finally) scored a half pound of Lancer Slices ready rubbed that I plan to get into later.

What is Your Favorite Blend in the Morning?

Usually Chelsea Morning or Miskatonic Mixture, but lately have been enjoying Sunset Harbor flake a lot.

    STG: Sales Flat, Profits Down

I know they make the Peterson/Dunhill blends, but what other pipe brands are produced by them?

    C&D Winchester & Others

I may have to try Winchester. So far, the only C&D that I really enjoy include Star of the East flake, Sunset Harbor flake, Bayou Morning flake, John Marr, and the HP Lovecraft tobaccos. I missed out on The Beast, but I have a feeling I'd like it, too.

What Tobacco did your Ancestors Smoke?

Grandfather smoked Velvet, father only did cigarettes (Pall Mall).

    Oldest Smoked Tobacco...

When my grandfather passed away a few years ago I got his pipe collection. He had a handful of Grabow pipes, a couple Dunhill, and a Kaywoodie. I kept one of the Dunhills and one of the Grabows. I also got a small pipe rack/jar combo and a large, unopened container of Velvet from (at best...

    (Im)practical Pipe Tool

I've been using a round tip Opinel knife. Blade is safe enough for emptying the bowl, sharp enough to cut a plug, and the end, when closed, makes a good tamp.

    Show us Your Best Smoker

My best smoker is this Dublin by Northern Briars. Just wonderful. I have a Castello 55 Old Antiquary and Eldritch Reading Pipe that give it competition, though.

Love The US supreme Court Audio

I'm a pretty staunch audiobook fan. Made my way through the Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, and a few Stephen King offerings and now about halfway through the Harry Potter books (which are way better than I thought they would be).

    Escudo Alternative

I pretty much stick to Elizabethan Mixture and Bayou Morning for VaPers. I don't mind PS Bullseye, Dorchester, etc, but usually it's the first two I mentioned. I'm wanting to try GLP Windjammer as it's an interesting blend with perique and rum.

    Peterson Silver Spigots Update?

I actually like the slim spigot/stem in the straight billiard shapes. This 106 looks great in the hand and smokes very well.

    Peterson Pub Pipe

Just grabbed this Peterson 106 in the barley/silver spigot. Breaking her in now with some Black Mallory. So good!

    Ennerdale Flake?

Love the stuff. If I don't have a supply of Ennerdale, Kendal flake (scented, of course), Conniston cut plug, and Bosun cut plug, I start to get a bit panicked. You should grab a tin of Grousemoor and/or 1792 flake, too, as they are both top notch as well.
