    Storing Pipes

I like to see ALL my pipes. Looking at them is as enjoyable to me as anything else about the hobby. Mine won't be hidden in boxes. Racks can be as simple and plain as this, for a while or forever. Or repurpose an old cabinet. Or, make some out of almost nothing.

What Is With All the Links To Threads Instead Of Answers?

I have raised the issue of the poor search engine before. If someone, an older member usually, remembers something about a thread, it is sometimes possible to find answers, but usually the search is worthless. Google isn't any better. So, I for one, appreciate the links. Yes, PART of a forum is...

Comoy’s Specimen Straight Grain 229 Restoration [Pic Heavy]

Yep, what they said. Fantastic transformation. So, where did you find that beautiful black stem? Oh, It was hiding inside the fake briar stem that the pipe came with? I have always liked the color of the weathered stems when they get that far. My Soren was that way and I thought it was made...

    Miss Universe Contest

Somebody once said... PICHERS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN :nana: Just teasing Brad. Hope you have a great week!

    Issues With P&C......Again

The offer worked for me. My order arrived almost before I ordered it.

Fungi That Attack Cellared Tobacco - Research

Sigh... But, now I know why I like dry tobacco.

    "Bronze" Pipe Holder

I wanted a brass or bronze pipe holder but was too cheap to pay for a 'real' one. So, I made one. While unpacking our craft supplies, I found a tub of air dry clay. This is pretty neat stuff, and can be molded into nearly any shape. So, a pipe holder appeared. I painted it with some gold paint...

Smoking The Best Is Not Expensive

Of course 'Best' is subjective. The best may not be (and generally isn't, in my experience) the most expensive, and the most expensive isn't necessarily the best. Lots of numbers. Thanks for all the math, but I just enjoy smoking my pipe once in a while. No numbers needed. :puffy:

    Mansion House Stem Repair

Thanks Alan. Note that I used the T-88 epoxy. It seems to be just fine, but I think others here use the G-flex from the same maker. Supposed to be more flexible. I have some of that too. I bought it upon recommendation, for repairing cracked briar.

    Mansion House Stem Repair

I was doing fairly well with the shaping after the epoxy cured. The lips were roughly shaped and I was working on the stem. I even taped it to avoid scratching the part that I didn't work on. OOPS, I cut a groove next to the tape, with the jewelers' file. No more tape during that phase. I...

    Broken Meer Stem

Was it threaded into the stem? Any idea what the material is? It looks like PVC or something.

    Smoking a Pipe While Walking

It is windy where I live, I joke about being the 'wind smoker'. I have learned to hold my pipes by the bowl, with my hand cupped over the top of the bowl. I can control the 'draft' that the wind creates that way. What kind of tobacco do you like? What shape of pipe do you like?

    Smoking a Pipe While Walking

Yes, windcaps for lunting in windy weather. They are also useful for keeping a loaded pipe loaded while riding in your pocket. This is the wind cap/tobacco keeper-inner I use. Other types are available too.

Do You Use A Leather Pouch?

That's a nice one for sure. Pic saved for reference. Thanks!

What About Adding Fresh Tobacco On Top Of Dottle?

This was my first 'reject' leftover tobacco. Previously, no problem at all, but I decided that it isn't worth the effort or mess of leaving the pipe uncleaned.

Do You Use A Leather Pouch?

It is transparent, or the cloaking shield is on.

    What Is This White Stuff?

Not the same as moldy rye bread, huh? So, if it tastes sweet, it is good and it you see purple elephants flying around the room after tasting, it isn't great? Might be valuable though.

What About Adding Fresh Tobacco On Top Of Dottle?

After lighting up some 3 day old University Flake, left in the pipe after the wind sent me inside the house... I will dump anything left in a bowl before I come in. That one changed my mind. Not worth it. That stuff was awful. I puffed a few puffs and dumped it. The tobacco, fresh, was great...
