Michael Parks Commission - Billiard and Dreadnought

I asked Michael Parks to create his interpretation of the following two pipes - a billiard and a dreadnought. My only guidance to him was that I wanted titanium bands. The pipes are now nearing completion and I will post updates over the next few days.

    McClelland CC Editions

I still have unopened tins of every single release of CC, since 92. Was devastated when Mcl left the business and haven't gotten around to smoking any in a few years though. In 2019 I smoked through a double I had of the 95 blend and it was just so smooth.I also managed to get my hands on...

    Paddy Moloney, RIP

Always enjoyed the Chieftains. They have a great album from a number of years ago where Mick Jagger sings the Long Black Veil and the rest of the Roling Stones join the chieftains for a rousing rendition of Rocky Road to Dublin. RIP.

    Checking In

Hey guys, great to see familiar faces. I hope everyone is safe during this bullshit. We are doing well, though we are in lockdown again. Oddly, work has never been busier, but I am lucky in that I can easily work from home. I can't imagine what it would be like if you had a public-facing...

    Always Say Something...

I really wanted to intervene at the Chicago Pipe Show a few years back when I saw cigrmaster abusing himself (in the biblical sense) in the corner while drooling over bags of overpriced Stonehaven. The whole thing was very unseemly, but I digress.

    Checking In

Just checking in to see what the latest and greatest news is? Smoking a pipe with a mask on is a real bitch, but I am persevering.

    So My Wife

Just ask cigrmaster on this forum. He loves the plastic dolls. In fact, he had one custom made in his own image because he is so in love with himself that he wanted to feel what it was like to . . . I digress.

There Appears To Be A New Law In The UK Regarding Loose Tobacco Sales.

Social control by whom? It's an insurance company not the government - their interest is in making money, not reshaping society. They are underwriting a risk and they want to understand what that risk is so that it can be priced accordingly. I can't speak for private health insurance of the...

There Appears To Be A New Law In The UK Regarding Loose Tobacco Sales.

I would assume most or all of those would be fair game if the insurer priced on the basis of any of those factors, since they all go to the risk of what is being insured. I would add pipe restoration to the list, however, as that can be an extremely dangerous vocation.

    So My Wife

I think if I tried to equate a pipe to her shoes I would be looking for a divorce lawyer.

There Appears To Be A New Law In The UK Regarding Loose Tobacco Sales.

I assume the requirement to pass a smoking test is because your health insurance is provided by your employer, and your employer pays more to the insurer if you are a smoker? If that is correct, then all that is happening is that you employer is passing on the incremental cost of your smoking...

    So My Wife

You are a lucky man if your wife buys you tobacco. However, never let her buy you a pipe. If she is like my wife, she will think $50 for a pipe is the appropriate price and then she will gift you a cheap and crappy pipe that that you are obliged to smoke in order to avoid offending her. I...

Which Famous Blends Have You Never Tried?

No one mentioned Mixture 69, which shocks me. For me, I have never tried Edgeworth flake. Am I missing anything?

Show Off Your S. Bang Here.

Condor, Hate It or Love It (?)

Condor is one of those blends I avoided initially but actually quite liked it when I first tried it. I don't smoke it often, but when I do, I enjoy it. I managed to stock up on a fair bit of condor before production was moved to Poland so I should have enough to last for quite some time at...

NHL Hockey is Back! Official 2020 Playoff Thread

My beloved Oilers are hanging by a thread - a thread I fear is about to be cut.

    Bye Bye Nat Sherman

This is a real bummer. In pre-pandemic days, I would travel to NYC about 5 or 6 times a year and would usually stop in at Nat Shermans. There also used to be a JR Cigars on 5th avenue that was a favourite stop of mine, but alas, it is gone now as well.
