Post Dentist Roof of Mouth Irritation

I get a dental cleaning 3 times a year and I always have my dentist check my palette and underneath the tongue for any irregularity. When I get tongue bite or feel any irritation on the roof of my mouth I will refrain from using my pipes until what's in question completely heals. Sometimes that...

Freshly Opened 4 Year Old Tin of Squadron Leader

Will let you know. Probably next few weeks.

    11 year old Penzance.

I also happen to have 2012 vintage. By chance I walked into the old Barclay Rex shop across the street from Grand Central Station in New York City one day (the shop is long since gone) and they had bags of Penzance in stock. I snapped one up and went home and jarred it right away. I have a...

Freshly Opened 4 Year Old Tin of Squadron Leader

Reminds me I have to crack one of my 2011 Skiff Mixture tins. I fear it will need rehydration but I'm prepared for the task. Cheers.

I really enjoyed this video below as well. A visit to White's of Southampton.

    Show Us Your Ashton Pipes

Purchased from Mike at Briar Blues--a 2022 Ashton Pebble Grain Liverpool. Marked XX in size but really could have easily been XXX as the bowl is quite generous.

The Lost Pipe Shops of London (video)

GL Pease has written about B&H's Original Virginia Flake. I believe he opened an old tin on Instagram some years ago.

    Pipe Tobacco business

Totally agree with this. We are very lucky that STG is, at least for now, committed to continuing the pipe tobacco business because it really is not material to them in the grand scheme of things. We could have easily lost all the Dunhill, Orlik, Escudo, Peterson etc blends years ago if not for...

The Lost Pipe Shops of London (video)

I would love to try the original versions of the F&T flakes. The current versions by K&K have a bit too much top note for me.

The Lost Pipe Shops of London (video)

True. I think the hobby has had a bit of a resurgence in the last few years but I have no hard data to prove that.

The Lost Pipe Shops of London (video)

Interesting history of some famous old pipe shops in this video linked below. Man, how I would love. to travel back in time when it was common to see pipe smokers casually going. about their day in a great metropolis. I know the best old shops from New York are mostly gone, but you would...

PSA for USA Mail-in Ballot Voters

We do mail voting here in California (in addition to in-person, voters choice), the ballot envelope is postage paid. No need to wonder about proper postage. Just drop it in the mailbox or any number of many convenient drop off locations. No fuss and participation levels are high.

A short pairing report - Abingdon & Earl Grey.

I'm a fan of Abingdon. There are so many Latakia mixtures to choose from in GL Pease's back catalog one never knows where to start. Cheers.

    New Member from China

Welcome from California! I also enjoy tea with my pipes. It's a great match for Virginias and VaPers. It would be great to hear more about the market for pipes and tobacco in China. Does the Dunhill shop in Shanghai still carry pipes?

    Tobacconists in New York City

Unfortunately this is not so. Very few metro areas have grocery stores or drug stores or news agents that carry any of the OTC blends any more. Most sales have moved online or to smoke shops in regions like the southern states mostly.

    Tobacconists in New York City

It is sad what has happened to the all the tobacconists in New York city and many US cities. I agree with what many have said above. The selection if any will be slim. Almost all of the US sales have moved online. A postal delivery to a hotel (marked for the guest) and timed for a visit is your...
