Tobacco Recommendations for Someone Who Doesn't Seem to Enjoy Latakia

HH Old Dark Fired has already been mentioned, but I'll also recommend you try HH Burley Flake as well. It's not as strong as Old Dark Fired and certainly not as strong as Irish Flake, but nonetheless a very tasty Burley blend.

    Polish Condor....What Happened?

I was able to get a couple of pouches from the 70s in one of Pipestud's offerings a few weeks back. Like a lot of many-decades old tobaccos that have been sealed it has that special "scent" which I identify in my mind as that ole' timey smell. It did not disappoint. Not only did it taste like...

    Mac Baren - St. Bruno

A favorite of mine. The dark-fired is not overwhelming and adds just enough spice to the flavor. I can see why this has been a favorite of the common man in England over the decades

I've got a PAD feeling about this: Upshall Edition

Great looking pipe Hap. I love Lovats and that Upshall is a stunner. I have been thinking about an Upshall pipe for some time now. I'll have to be on the hunt for one similar to yours. Or save up and get one of Ken Barnes' new ones that he has started making.

    Broken Pipe Bill Kotyk

It's always sad to learn of another fellow piper passing on, even if you didn't know the person. I didn't but still feel a sadness for both us as a group and for those of you who knew Bill. May he rest in peace.

    Gawith Hoggarth

Yeah I had been wanting to try some Scotch Flake for quite a while now and snagged a few ounces. Also some Dark Flake scented and Brown Flake liquorice.

    Peterson Irish Flake

That is good news. Irish Flake, University Flake, and 3Ps were my main ones

    Synjeco Pipe Shop

I was thinking of ordering a couple of 250g plugs from them. Anybody that has done business lately with them have a general ballpark idea of what the shipping cost would be on 500g? Has your experience bringing it in to the U.S. from them been favorable? I have ordered tobacco from the Pipe...

Iowa Road Trip Turned Pipe/Tobacco Hunt

Hi Carolina. Sounds like a fun trip and I love those family owned tobacco shops that still cater to pipe smokers. Loved the pictures. My dad and his parents lived several years in Des Moines when he was a boy so that's kind of a special place to me. Dad and I went back there a few years ago and...

    First Impression: Coniston Cut Plug

It's good stuff. My one ounce sample just says cut plug, not designating unscented or scented, and I don't remember which I supposedly ordered. I also like Bosun cut plug. I need to revisit both of these and also dark plug scented and unscented. I liked all of these but it's been awhile and I...

    Summer Heat Ruining My Smokes

Dang Kyriefurro. Where do you live? Yeah it's been just the usual here in Texas. This time of year is typically 100 and the humidity, while not as high probably as the Midwest, does make it pretty challenging. Yesterday I sat out under a shade tree and we had about a 20-25 mph wind so it wasn't...
