Coloring Progress Over Time/No of Bowls in one Meerschaum Pipe

I think this should do the job

I feel you. My great great grandfather was a tobacco merchant in 1858, trading with Turkey, so I bet he had great pipes, but unfortunately they were not passed down the female line and I don’t think they (pipes) survived the soviet revolution

Coloring Progress Over Time/No of Bowls in one Meerschaum Pipe

Is it better to have one larger hole in the middle or 4 smaller holes like on a button? With colouring bowls they say the meerschaum has to be new for it to work. Is it the same with coins?

Ain’t this hole too big? I think a sixpence would be way cheaper thou

Coloring Progress Over Time/No of Bowls in one Meerschaum Pipe

I am actually eager to try this method on one of my new meerschaums coming my way. Even got myself a 1922 silver sixpence for this reason. Just need to find someone to drill it first :)

My family heirlooms are silver cups. No pipes I’m afraid.

    Hello from Berlin!

It’s C&D Autumn Evening. Although it’s about to become No1 favorite since I started forgetting the taste of Peterson.

    Hello from Berlin!

Hello from Ukraine. Visited Berlin 3 years ago, wonderful city. I too learned a lot from the muttonchop piper. And Connoisseur’s Choice is my most favourite tobacco. It used to cost 20 euro here and now it’s impossible to get, while in Germany it sells for 14 euro. Still remains impossible to...

    Ode to My First Meer

Ok, so in the end I chose to leave this beauty with me. After some negotiation with Smokingpipes we have agreed on 30 dollars partial refund which I have already received back, so kudos to them for being the good guys. Here’s the bowl after 13 smokes. Wax coloration on the top of the bowl...

Coloring Progress Over Time/No of Bowls in one Meerschaum Pipe

I wonder where would a meer without a shank start colouring first?

By the way, how many smokes did it take to color like this? And what kind of tenon does it have? I would have thought thought plastic fittings would be usual, but can they really hold well, when the pipe is several times larger than the stem? Or do you have another tenon type?

at the moment we got no electricity. So I’m sitting near the emergency roof exit and my smoking looks like this. I don’t want to shock guys in the WAYS section, lol

Thank you, I’m the hindsight this was probably the best advice I received. I would have never thought about a brush and I wouldn’t be able to cope without one. Thank you.

Do you happen to know if he does commissions? Looking for a carver for head figure comission who is that skilled with smaller finer details. Most head figures jobs look sloppy and rough to me.

By the way, who was the carver of this beauty?

    Ordering the new pipe.

Savinelli. The Lorenzetti is an estate pipe. I myself would only want an estate pipe if it were over 70 years old so that its history dwarfs the feeling that some dead guy has recently been chewing on the stem that I now put into my mouth.

I’m all thumbs up for fixing a decade old pipe. (This picture is good! Did you do the repairs?) I just never expected I would want to fix a $300 new pipe.

Well, surface changes is why i decided to try meerschaum. But from my briar smoking years I feel kind of suspicious regarding holes inside of the bowl 🤠 Like a hole from the pipe cleaner on the opposite side of the drilling - for me it’s like the pinnacle of sin.

thank you @Chasing Embers :) This gives some solace. Funny that just a second ago I wrote an explanation why this would affect me :) I’m the kind of a person who stops valuing his phone if it gets a scratch, because it now has a defect and I can’t stand it and I start disrespecting it and...

    Ode to My First Meer

Thank you immensely! Your explanation makes a lot of sense. I was very puzzled about what has happened. About the smoking effect though. They say that there are 2 types of pipe smokers: those who smoke tobacco and those who smoke the pipe. I am clearly a smoker who values pipe more than...
