    Hawai’i Ban on Shipping

So shipping tobacco is pau? Well aloha does also mean goodbye... I lived in Kaneohe for 8 years, the only reason I wasn't sad to go is stuff like this. I'll actually be there soon for work, what's the best place to buy tobacco in Town these days? Since that's going to be the only way to...

Pipe Smoking: Should I be Concerned in Public ?

Last time I visited Malaysia for work, I don't remember ever feeling uncomfortable smoking anywhere there was a cigarette butt can, or getting any negative looks from anybody. I agree with asking your neighbors, depending on how close your front porch is to theirs. To answer your question...

A Pound of Dried Up Samples

Depending on what it is, I've mixed overly dry tobacco with something else compatible in flavor that was s little too moist, jar it up, wait a week or two, and in usually turned out well and the moisture fairly equalized. It also might be a good time to try the apple slice trick if you don't...

    Sidelined by Carter Hall

I had a similar experience, a friend started me with Gawith Hoggarth, Dan Tobacco, GLP, C&D, SPC, etc. I loved most of them but stumbled across a pouch of SWR in a store one day and picked it up... I quickly bought a few more and smoked nothing but it for a couple weeks. Then I tried all the...

What do You Suggest I Try Next?

I just finished a tin of Mac Baren 7 Seas Black. Not as sweet as BCA and also less moist, translating to no bite at all for me. Since BCA is what you know you like, and 7 Seas Black is in the same category, it's worth a shot. It definitely tastes different, but different within the same...

A Great Straight Virginia Recommended for a Morning-Time Smoke

I just placed an order of all Virginias and this was off my radar. Thanks for highlighting it, maybe I'll give it a go on the next round, the description says it tastes like a hot toddy... which makes more sense after reading the review.

    Aromatics With a Little Extra

I found Eastfarthing to be a little too light, though the taste that was there was good. I was recently given a bag of Smoker's Pride Vanilla, but I don't prefer straight vanilla so it's been sitting unopened. I decided to mix it about 2/5ths with some Best of the Rest English I've also been...

    Sutliff 1849?

They are old-western San Francisco peaches, much coveted by gold miners and often found served in saloons. They were often the preferred accompaniment to a glass of whiskey after a long day on the sluice box. Aside from the peaches, is it the extra red Virginia that makes this one stand out...

    Sutliff 1849?

What's your take on Sutliff 1849? I don't see this blend talked about much, but a forum search shows a lot of 1849 results mostly only in "what are you smoking today" posts. 1849 quickly became my favorite VaPer after only trying four or five different ones. To me the perique is not as strong...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2023?***

Peterson Hyde Park in a Brigham 84. First time with this blend, soo smooth and light but such a flavorful smoke. I've not had anything like it to date, time to start trying more Virginias...

How to date a Sutliff tin?

How to date a Sutliff tin? I use an ink pen. When I buy it, I mark the purchase date on the back... Less accurate, but it works. I don't expect that many Sutliff tins I buy have significant age on them, if they do then yay me when I finally open it. If someone is certain about the barcode...

    The "Truth"

It is critical that you buy the most expensive tobacco you can afford. It doesn't matter if you like less expensive alternatives the same amount. It has to be the most expensive you can afford, otherwise you are a peasant who is smoking pipes wrong, and we will bite our thumbs at you.

    Rim Charring

Do I need to clean this one? I've never touched a flame to the rim on this one. That's what I figure to be about 200 bowls worth of smoke licking the rim when first lit. I'm also a clincher while doing other things, and breathing sometimes smokes the pipe both in and out, which I'm sure...

    Saludos desde Mexico

Hola y bienvenidos desde Pacifico Noroeste, USA! This is indeed an interesting space to learn, and you just taught me a new Spanish word, thanks! Sorry if my Spanish is backwards though, it usually is.

Missouri Meerschaum; Year 2000 Price List

Yes you are correct if using the simple inflation rate, there's a reason I used the comparison of price increase vs wage increase rather than use the simple inflation factor. There's more to it than that, as you mentioned with manufacturing costs. Labor costs, material costs, power costs, etc...

    Smoking About a Year...Recommendations?

Welcome, I also recommend Sir Walter Raleigh and Granger for something that easily stays lit. They have a consistency that I find needs few tamps and usually no re-lights.
