    Brigham filter substitute?

I just ordered a Brigham to test the rock maple filters, being that they are flow-through. Also, others here say they smoke well anyway without the filter if I don't like using it. I have two questions though for you fine folks: What if you just keep rinsing/cleaning the rock maple filter and...

    Athletic Pipe Smokers

You like to go mountain-piping? Downhill mountain-piping or cross country? Maybe freestyle? Haha, I don't like calling it "piping" because that's how you put frosting on a cake, or play a flute, but it this one sounds good.

    Athletic Pipe Smokers

If I smoke outside only and don't inhale, I can smoke several bowls a day and run as many miles without noticing a difference. If I smoke inside, or smoke a cigarette (inhaling), or inhale a few puffs of the pipe, I notice, so I don't generally do those things. This is the reason I quit daily...

    What is the advantage of…

This. I've bought bulk that was definitely dry crumbs. Cracking a sealed tin pretty much always ensures a good smoke. That being said, I buy the bulk of my tobacco in bulk rather than tins... it's in the name haha, but also for reasons others have mentioned.

    Pipe Storage.

Looks good to me, I use cigar boxes to store opened pouch tobaccos as well. I recommend going to a craft store and getting a piece of blue fabric, cut it to size, and glue it to the bottom of the box. Spray adhesive works best. As "proper" as pipe storage needs to be, it will also prevent any...

    ASP Cajun Half and Half

I've been waiting for replies to this, as the concept of smoking a more burley-forward blend with added perique interested me. Well, I couldn't wait any longer, so I looked at what I have on hand and decided to very scientifically mix some Match Victorian with precisely "bout the same amount"...

    Saving unpalatable blends

Whenever I get an aromatic that is too sweet, or simply doesn't have enough tobacco flavor, I mix it with something burley. However this caused me to only buy burley aros now so I don't have this problem anymore! The trash works too, but I would have never known I actually like aromatics...

    Past Due

I've eyed those more than once. I collect a lot more knives than pipes... maybe I'll have to pick one up. Would you say the quality is on par with a good slipjoint pocket knife like a German made Boker or American Case or the old Old Timers?

    Past Due

Hey that looks familiar, did you use the spey blade of a Case stockman too? Damn, should've saved it. That's good info!

    Flakes and Plugs: War Casualties?

We might need Chasing Embers' ingenuity if the supply of "glue" is disrupted to the point that the blenders can't make flake and plug. I'm sorry to turn this thread into a joke so quickly lol, but this thread has a serious point that we may see the impact of. Just don't everybody panic buy so...

    Flakes and Plugs: War Casualties?

Elmer's glue is non-toxic... maybe we see some new Paste Plug and Schoolhouse Flake?

    Sutliff tins and Rust

Interesting, It looks like you have oxidation on both sides of the seal, which I would theorize shouldn't happen if its unopened... unless is has to do with the material of the gasket... Well, this is why those 4oz ball/mason jars are so great, perfect for a tin-size storage. It is hard to...

    Sutliff tins and Rust

Are you finding this after you first break the seal, or after re-opening and closing the tin several times? Ive had some couple years old MacBaren with corrosion on the ring upon first opening, but nowhere near that much, just discoloration. I've never noticed any on my Sutliff 1849 tins.

How To Repair a Crack In An Acrylic Stem?

Since it's a cheap pipe...If the glue doesn't work and you have a local library with 3D print services they should be able to print you one of these, probably in the color of your choice. PM me if you have any questions. After I did my first one, I ended up making several more interesting...

How To Repair a Crack In An Acrylic Stem?

Here is my amateur advice (recommend wait for someone who has succeeded in this type of repair). I have experienced poor adhesion with epoxy on acrylic stem material, too smooth I think. Being fairly thick it would have a hard time penetrating a hairline crack. Perhaps apply super glue and...

    Need Help Smoking a Briar.

I find cobs to be more work actually. Briars do what they do and do it well once you figure it out, everything I know about it has already been said though. Cobs, to make them last, usually require a extra work every couple weeks or so. A little wood glue here, a little there. Maybe some...

Hello. I Need to Chill Out.

A good friend of mine also has two autistic sons, and we have had many a smoke about it. One theory he has is that more of us than we know are on the spectrum to some extent, we just aren't aware because its not pronounced enough to really impair our ability to operate with others day-to-day...

Hello. I Need to Chill Out.

Absolutely hilarious lol. I had to quote you for my signature, I hope you are ok with that. I suppose my entrance to the forum was very Kramer-esque as well hahaha.

    Little Things to Boost Morale

Yes, lunch is always a good way to show appreciation. To expand on the roast chicken idea, organize a "potluck" where you bring the main dish(es) paper plates and utensils, etc. Tell everyone to bring sides or whatever they want. Often I find there are some who get very excited to make their...

My Visit To The Country Squire

While Old Tobold Hornblower brought the first weed to the Shire, there is nothing like settling down in Bag End for a pipe! All their blends I've tried are great, and their Middle Earth series isn't just a gimmick. I think it is absolutely worth paying almost tin-prices for bulk tobacco from...
