Go-to Blend For Curing Tongue Bite?

My go-to blend for tongue bite is MacBaren Virginia. I smoke it fast...make sure you can feel the heat coming off the pipe like touching a hot stove. Your tongue will feel great after doing that...or will at least make you forget about the tongue bite you had before.

    Low-Key Aromatics

My 3 go to are Wilke 191, 4 Noggins 3 Blind Moose, and I do like University Flake, though it is barely aromatic. These don't bite me either which is another reason they are my short list.

    Help with Plum Pudding

Still not super, but I have decided for now that I will do 'touch up' lights and not really allow it to go out unless the bowl is telling me it is too hot. A touch up light is very quick and does not seem like much interruption and I just feel like my rhythm is better this way. I will still...

    Help with Plum Pudding

The consensus is dry it more. I will report back. I think not drying my tobacco enough is a general thing I need to pay more attention to. Thanks everyone.

    Help with Plum Pudding

I really like SPC Plum Pudding but am having a hell of time figuring out prep and technique...it just won't stay lit. For those of you that smoke Plum Pudding, will you please describe your process to prep it, what size/shape pipe you find works best, any tricks you have to keep it going? I do...

***What Are You Smoking, July 2020?***

First smoke of G.L.P. Chelsea Morning in a new Astley's of London billiard. I really enjoyed Chelsea Morning...a fine English in my book.

    The Score

Damn. I would be sleeping in my car if I put in an order that big lol. My wife opened up my cabinet where I keep all my tobacco and commented...You have a lot of tobacco, I don't remember you having that much. I say "Hmm...really"?

    Family Approved Indoor Smoking Blends?

Search for a holmes twin window fan. I put one of these into a sliding window in my man cave when I smoke indoors and set it to exhaust to the outside. It made an amazing difference and is quiet. If I am after smell good, I go for Wilke 191 or 4 noggins 3 Blind Moose.

    What A Joke

My opinion matters about as much as it does for politics, but here we go: Screw these 'alert me when it is in' options unless it is a normal and short-term lull in what is usually available inventory. For these tobacco's that are never in stock, or only in stock for 2 minutes...all it does is...

    My Border Collie Jill

Breaks my heart. My dogs are family too and it is terrible to go through something like this.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2020?***

3 Blind Moose in a tiny cob...not much time tonight. Wife says she likes the smell. I'm also liking Wilke 191. These are 2 good aromatics.

It is also a great mixer. My fav is 4 flakes (totally rubbed out) of Peterson University Flake to 1 pouch of Carter Hall.

Made A Big Mistake: Smoked A Cigar

Some other forum members that smoke cigars helped me decide I would maintain a small humidor with about 20-30 good quality cigars in it in addition to my pipe smoking. I'm enjoying both to be honest. I have 20 Oliva Master 3 cigars right now. A small humidor and the stuff needed to keep it...

    Beginner Pipes

I have a MM mini cob too and do like it for really short smokes and tasting tobacco. My larger MM had the problem you describe though and I actually put a briar plug in the bottom to correct it. I will do the same to the mini cob if it needs it. Full disclosure though...I have a mini lathe...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2020?***

First smoke in my EMC Custom Cob and smoking a sample of HH Vintage Syrian courtesy of Eric Mills he sent with the pipe. Pic is a little dark, but the stem is actually a Brindle stem.

    My Craigslist Find

I bought a beautiful oak wall rack that has glass/wood cabinet doors years back. Only problem was that my pipe collection was about 10 pipes and the rack holds 24. That baby is full now!

Community Coffee was my Dad's favorite when we lived in Louisiana growing up. Seems like it had chicory in it.

    Genre Dedicated Pipes

I like any excuse to have more pipes. However...I find the categories virginialover posted to be pretty good. Add aromatic to that if you smoke them. I actually combine Virginia and Vaper myself just because I don't have a refined taster.
