The Downside of a Zippo, or Beginner's Mistake?

Try an exercise...practice lighting a new bowl without actually touching the flame to the tobacco and see how far above the tobacco you can hold that flame and still ignite (also watch how your draw impacts all of that). You will be surprised that the flame does not have to actually contact to...

Does Tea reduce the risks of tabacco pipe smoking?

I don't think you should smoke green tea. Pipe tobacco is much preferred.

    Change from Peterson Old Dublin

Anyone so confused needs to board the Black Frigate and get things sorted out! Seriously, I love Old Dublin and will never leave it. With so many choices now, there is no reason to leave anything behind unless you have simply decided you don't like it. I also like Peterson Standard Mixture...

    Esoterica and Germains Equivalents?

Finding Old Gowrie is about as impossible as finding Tilbury. Another other ideas for a replacement for either of those...Tilbury or Old Gowrie? About the only thing I see even close by description is Rattray's 40 Virginia, but it would be nice to hear from someone that has compared these by...

    Esoterica and Germains Equivalents?

Has anyone come up with a substitute for Tilbury? I just started smoking a tin dated 2009 and I am smitten.

Getting back into Pipes - my "Newbie Trial Selection"

Reading the start of your post sounds like my own experience. I want to enjoy pipe smoking, but seem to run into bite and at times worse (feels like my soft pallet has been torched) and I tend to stop for a while (maybe even a year or more) and then I come back. I have also been down the road...

***What Are You Smoking, August 2020?***

Last night was McClelland Scottish Woods. Tonight was Black Frigate. I only have the one tin of Scottish Woods. Very nice, but it still would not replace Old Dublin for me, so I will enjoy this tin and not worry that it does not exist anymore and stay stocked with Old Dublin.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2020?***

Plum Pudding in a cob again. I'm trying to beat this tobacco into submission. I rubbed it out much finer than normal and let it dry a couple of hours. I dropped a small stone in the bottom to help the fine tobacco not clog the air hole. All in all this was my best attempt to get this to...

    Tobacco’s Per Pipe?

You need to tell your wife that all the serious smokers out there have a pipe for every blend and have cellars overflowing with blends. In order for you to be a serious smoker, you have to start accumulating more blends and hence more pipes.puffy Trust me, my logic is flawless on this.
