Effective Tip for Cleaning Bent Stems to Minimize Damage

I have a bore scope for guns that I inspect the inside of my pipe stems to make sure they are perfectly smooth. Ok...I don't really do that.

    Quintessential Blends By Genre

I agree dquisenberry, that is probably the best indication of what is most popular in each genre type. Thanks for that.

    Quintessential Blends By Genre

I forgot Burley. I would probably have listed Aged Burley Flake in my list, but I don't have a lot of burley experience so not saying it represents quintessential. Tell me what you think belongs in any group though if you have an opinion on that group.

    Quintessential Blends By Genre

I don't know if this is even possible or realistic, but my goal is this: Let's say I am wondering about VaPer. Before I go down a TAD rabbit hole for VaPer, it seems I should try the 'quintessential' VaPer that almost anyone that likes VaPer blends would say represents that genre well. So for...

    Left Over Tobacco.

I always have something I tried and don't like (or don't get along with) and I put that in the bottom. So this morning, I dropped a little Star of the East Flake (for some reason it bites me) down in the bottom and then proceeded to pack Old Dublin. I basically smoked all the Old Dublin down...

What Did You Smoke Today? Cigars.

Just smoked an Obsidian on the front porch. I am new to cigars, but I liked it. Started kicking my butt towards the end. I have some Oliva Master 3's to try soon.

    Taste vs Smell

I'm not talking about tin smell. Specifically talking about not being able to really taste anything from the smoke, but the smoke itself I find very pleasant as I get a whiff of it...which I of course try to do quite a lot.

    Reaming Briar pipe

I'm with mso489. I'm not letting the cake build up much. Once I have a thin-ish layer of carbon on the walls, I wipe out the bowls after each smoke. I doubt I will ever ream a pipe.

I Might Be A Codger Now

If you happen to have some Peterson University Flake laying around, try mixing a bit of that with Carter Hall. I find it makes CH a fine smoke. I am mixing 4 flakes (very rubbed out as fine as I can get it) per pouch of CH. I still need to try PA though.

I think you are in Waterloo, Iowa. I work for a company in Fairfield, but work at home in New Mexico.

    Taste vs Smell

That actually makes a lot of sense for me. I will work on that!

    Taste vs Smell

The majority of tobacco reviews and commentary on tobacco is centered around the taste of the blend or the taste of constituent tobaccos as they burn. I must have a terrible taster as I just don't taste that much. But I have a pretty good smeller and it is the whiffs of smoke while I am...

The Kid With The Hot Hands!

Hmm...now if the kid with hot hands checks out the other thread about "the stiff pipe"...well that is just bordering on inappropriate.
